    I just want more "balance".
We all pay the same for our TV license, it just seems those who like sport and cooking are better served than those who'd prefer more gardening / culture.

Balance works for me too.   I've tried and tried but canna thole opera but agree those who like it should have more.

Far too much cookery tho I love cooking and learning about it but don't want endless repeats or ready steady cr*p.   Love gardening but don't want Instant Gardener.   Why is the new Killing Eve only on i-Player?  It had a huge audience first time round so should be on mainstream TV, boosting audience figures again.

I'd quite like to see the Geoff Hamilton series again. It could be aimed at all the young novices who are trying their hand at gardening now.

I was watching the BBC news last night when a reporter appeared wearing full medical PPE reporting from what appeared to be a high dependancy unit.  What moron thought (a) it was a good idea to go in there and (b) thought it was a good idea to use equipment which is in short supply?  The gear he, and presumably the film crew, was wearing cannot be reused with the possible exception of the visor.  Their stupid and selfish actions have put front line staff at risk.  Presumably a photo opportunity is far more important to them than the life of NHS staff.

We were discussing that this morning @KT53, but came to the conclusion that the Government had probably asked the BBC to do it, in order to show the reality of an ICU and scare us all into staying at home. It certainly scared us!

Footballers get paid the market rate. If you don’t like it then don’t blame them, blame those who take out subscriptions to Sky Sports etc. The thing about footballers is that their talent is there for all to see; if they don’t play well they get dropped then sold or their contract is not renewed.

How many grossly overpaid CEOs could stand up to such public scrutiny? Their salaries are largely set by chums on the board who set them derisorily low performance targets to ensure bonuses come their way. Worldwide there are probably only a few hundred people with the talent to be, say, a premiership striker. But how many have the talent to be highly paid bosses? Thousands upon thousand upon thousands, I’d wager.

And why the opprobrium heaped upon Gary Lineker. He volunteered to take a 30% pay cut and that money is going to the British Red Cross. If CEOs of FTSE100 companies are doing the same it has passed me by.

We don’t all like the same things and thank heaven for that. I just think that sometimes a condescending tone is evident on these forums when folk talk about football or soap operas. I like them both and, for what it is worth, support Charlton because I grew up in SE London and also support Leicester having lived in or near the county for close on 50 years.

Maybe the hospital team thought it might be a good idea as it might make people realise exactly what THEY'RE dealing with and perhaps that might persuade folk to  stay at home?

The reporter  did actually say at the end of the report they'd " donated PPE to the hospital and supplied their own."

    Just sayin'

The BBC or the reporter shouldn't have the PPE in the first place.  Hospitals, GP surgeries, Care workers etc are screaming out for it.  I stand by what I said previously, any PPE used by the reporter and crew are items which should have been available to the front line staff.

Sounds like BBC can't win if they give the bigger  picture or not.
The staff interviewed seemed perfectly relaxed about talking to the reporter, hardly under any duress.

They donated extra PPE equipment to the hospital, would you prefer if they'd not bother covering the story and NOT donated equipment?

I think the Beeb has a duty to inform, educate and entertain written into its charter and would rather have a team reporting factually about what is happening in the hospitals and ICUs or whatever they're called these days.  If that makes just a few people come to their senses and behave responsibly it works for me.

Students in the technical section of Possum's old high school are using a 3D printer to make plastic face shields for emergency and other workers who need facial protection.  CEOs of big tech companies take note.  Help can come in many forms.

Good on Gary Lineker for his donations but I still don't want to watch him or any other footballer or pundit.   I know they get paid their "market" value but sometimes the market is wrong and needs rebalancing.
