It's better in Belgium @wild edges, honest, especially the croissants and other Viennoiseries.
If I do go for something sweet it's likely to be something outrageous and home made like sticky toffee pudding or a chocolate torte or a bread and butter pudding made with brioche or an Eton Mess or a pav.

No, sorry, but doughnuts and Arctic roll are both an abomination!
That's fine ... all the more for us then eh @wild edges 🍩🍦 (mind you I dislike those ring donuts ... I like proper jammy doughnuts, or the ones with stewed apple inside)

Oh no - a good ring doughnut is a joy. We have a very good bakery about a mile or so away. They have the best ones. Not had one in years though. I wouldn't turn down a jammy one though. Although I have a sweet tooth, there's very few desserts I like. Sticky toffee pudding makes me feel ill. I couldn't even eat a spoonful. I love a sharp lemon dessert - meringue pie [but only if there's really sharp lemon] lemon tart etc.
I remember Arctic Roll being thought of as the height of sophistication, and of course - it was to save the 'housewife' making a dessert herself
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Jammy ones are fine. Apple ones I like. Vanilla ones I can't deal with. They look like someone sneezed in the bakery [green faced emoji]. I'm sure they taste alright but I can't quite get that far. Ring doughnuts are particularly good with a little cinnamon. I'd go for a cinnamon 'tear and share' if given the run of the cake stand though. And then not share it.

I suspect that this time next year @wild edges will be a millionaire...
