Thank you all for your very kind wishes. I decided I felt well enough to do a little bit of gardening today involving potting up all of my sweet peas seedlings that had been left on the window sill for ages. It took me twice as long and left me rather breathless but I’m so glad to be out on my balcony getting my hands dirty again ☺️
Gabriel Oak has been very slow to get going. Although if I remember correctly, and I could probably find the photo on here, I think maybe it had the smallest roots of the ones I planted in Autumn.
Anyway in the second photo you can see Lady Emma Hamilton which was planted in March - not a huge amount of difference in growth I think!
Red and white parrot tulips 'Estella Rijnveld' are the latest in this bed succession, meant to flower together with a red camellia, which is just starting nearby. I am happy to have something working as intended.
This is becoming huge... La Belle Rouge (shrub, Vissers). All roses from the left: Our Beth, La Belle Rouge, Silas Marner, Gabriel Oak:
^I've often thought that too... patience pays off though, usually... Boscobel has a good scent, quite strong.. see how you like it.. I found the bloom colours can vary and sometimes it's quite startling.. Your plant look great ! thanks for showing us today..
...these 'Vincent Van Gogh' tulips have now opened... talking about watched pots, I've been waiting for these seems like ages.. ....very dark, almost black with fringed tips.. you may read that they have a strong scent, which can imply that it's delicious... it certainly knocks one out, but unfortunately it's of smelly socks...
All of my established roses have buds on now. Vanessa Bell which is a new one looks very close to opening - the buds have noticeably plumped up since yesterday.
Malvern Hills covered in buds, looking forward to seeing it in bloom this year as it's part trained now. Need more growth and canes and to get the coverage I want though.
I took some nice photos this morning, including some of the sparrows hopping rose to rose after aphids - but the memory card on my camera had some sort of fault and ALL of the photos on it were lost.
Luckily I back it up all the time, so not lost anything properly other than this morning's photos
...gosh, you were quick at getting those pictures, as they flit around so much... they've arrived in my garden today as well.. I had been wondering what happened to them.. Your roses are all doing well I see...
Clematis 'Miss Bateman'... I'm very fond of this one... first bloom..
