@Lizzie27 - My R-in-B is in a sheltered South-East facing corner and the blooms are lasting well, even in that really strong wind we had at the weekend. I think a couple of blooms that had faded to the slate blue shade had their petals prematurely removed by the wind. I’m pretty sure that they’re staying on for nearly at week.
Harder to tell this year as there’s a lot of fresh buds there to replace them before I’ve even noticed they’ve gone!
I’ll keep a closer eye.
Malvern Hills is ace - it’s still got all of the blooms on it that have opened, they’ve faded to very pale/white as in the photos, which I think looks nice and contrasts with the new ones. But they’re still there and not gone tatty.
Blimy, I’m secretly proud of my fence building - drilling straight through the steel posts and the aluminium panels to get the bolts in was a tricky challenge - but I wouldn't have thought it inspiration enough to move house @Fire 😆
Meant to ask you earlier, Fire, you said you had chosen the wrong reds again, are you finding the HTs difficult to train up your arches or is it the colour not being right? I thought your Guinee was looking really good...
@edhelka, I plan to train both Soul and Stormy Weather on the fence. SW not big enough yet, but Soul, strictly speaking not a climber, has already grew two long, sturdy canes that I did a bit of pre-fence training on by tying down onto temporary stakes.
Love your Alba Maxima.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie - oh! I missed that in your photos when flicking through. Thread moves on so quickly now that if I have a day at work, like yesterday, then I completely lose track!
Great job on that fence especially reusing materials, very impressed, looks great!
Hello, so bought a house (or a garden) with a number of elderly roses in it. I am now trying to bring them back to life with a little TLC, but I do love rose names. Any suggestions of the best way to identify (or at least try) roses?

Madame Hardy, love the cute button eyes:
Princess Alexandra of Kent, outer buds have a touch of yellow, but when open a rather cool pink with lilac tones:
RD Braithwaite seems to have lost it’s former ‘reliably red’ status:
Whereas new The Prince’s trust is much redder and looks to be a strong bloomer:
