lol.... if it's any consolation, I've done all that @Lizzie27
    ..many times..

..thanks... I can only reminisce as so much of my border got demolished when the new fence went up...  this summer it will have an immature look about it..

Love all the garden pictures! Im not risking planting any of my new bare root potted roses yet until the wrecked mudbath of a garden lawn is replaced with patio / gravel and borders are edged at the end of Feb - just incase the builders damage them.  Once its all done I'll put them in and start planning what to go round which "legs".

Finally got the potted roses from last year into the ground and it was not easy!  The plastic pots were slightly easier as they were light enough to pull off the root ball once I'd dropped the rose on its head but the ceramics were a pain.  I had to rag a lot of the soil off the roots too as they were very heavy to move with all the garden soil. Planted up my new ferns in the ceramic pots, two types of Dryopteris.

I've still got a few jobs to do in the garden and I'd like to get it done by the end of the month as I start the routine stuff in Feb. The garden also needs a chance to recover from me stamping about in the mud and on the grass, plus the bulbs are starting to show so I need to keep off the beds. On the plus side I think I've found space for two more ground roses, a climber and a 3ish footer. I might have a look at the new released roses that come out, I assume they come potted not bare root? I've never bought one before.

  • Wow, some colours! Thanks @Mr. Vine Eye, I wasn't sure if they would despatch before end of bare root season, but that's cool.

@Marlorena , I really hope you didn't loose the magnificent Daphne to fence project. That alone can keep a garden going for winter. You have got green fingers. You would have a new one growing well soon.

I would love to have daphne but they just dont like me or my garden or my pots. I tried so many plants in different ways, they flower their hearts out for 1-2 winters and then curl their toes. Currently i have two and one is looking downhill. They are so expensive too. Sometimes i think if i look at them too much at garden center, they might loose them all!
I am now growing some winter honeysuckle cuttings as they are more forgiving. I had two in my previous garden and they were thriving so left them there.
