Almost there... Souvenir de St. Annes. It's so pretty, gentle, sweet, elegant.
Together with Rhododendron Percy Wiseman (in need of some TLC, poor little thing). It's crazy to think about rhododendrons as companion plants to roses. But in two weeks, if all goes well, the rhododendron will be covered in flowers and the rose will be flowering too.

We seem to have similar tastes @edhelka I love that Rhododendron, I used to have it but my soil isn't the best for these and it's just too dry here most of the time..

@Daniel Rutherford  Hi Daniel... the problem here is with the rose, both very different.. one is easy, Olivia,  the other if I might say so is a right p.i.t.a as far as growing is concerned...  it's not surprising really they are withdrawing MW later this year, although they've had their monies worth out of it...  it's finicky and temperamental...   if you've got 3 years to spare, it'll be a great rose then.. maybe...  Olivia only needs 1...
So nothing you're doing wrong... I can assure you without even seeing it..

Has anyone on here got 'Kiss Me Kate' rose yet?   if not, and that's me too, then I think we need it..
..the German equivalent of 'Gertrude Jekyll'.. and probably better..

Thank you to everyone that has feedback their own findings re companions etc. It does seem having slightly acidic soil, fairly fertile soil is more important.
  • Thankyou @Marlorena that’s good to know as it’s really struggled to do anything so far this year but I had no plans to give up on it yet so will just let it get on. And yeah u would hardly notice Olivia had been moved at all to be honest.

i don’t like to have to move roses too much because of reasons like with munstead wood but sometimes u realise their is the wrong place haha. One of my poets wife need moved too, have u had any experience of how that one copes with being moved?

Does anyone find that, when you have a group of three roses, the front one in the triangle is usually smaller? That’s the case with my Munstead Wood, Julia Child and RD Braithwaite trios. i would put it down to the front one drying out more quickly as it doesn’t get as much root shading the other two do, but with trio of Lady Emma Hamilton, all are equally vigorous and the front one is the same size as the rest. Just wondering! This year I am going to give the front rose half as much water again as the others and see if that makes a difference.

@Marlorena I want her this autumn (Beales has her potted but I think I will wait for autumn bare-root) :) Fragrant, disease-resistant, small climber, very pretty blooms... Do you know Keneth Rollins? He is a superenthusiastic rose grower from Tennessee, he has online presence everywhere - several Facebook groups and several forums, instagram too, everywhere very active. He's been posting photos of her for some time, it's his most favourite rose in his hot and humid climate. I am certainly sold.

Oh Kenneth yes... I do... I think he's Puerto Rican and he has that chatty, friendly air about him.. and totally effusive about this rose...

I hope you get it later on.. I'm really out of room..

Nollie, re Munstead Wood... of my 3 they are all different sizes... one is the right size, the other middling and the 3rd is odd, which is being kind about it..

Daniel... Poet's Wife is so vigorous I doubt it'll realise it's been moved... I couldn't see a problem with that one... Desdemonas on the other hand, seem to have difficulties readjusting...
