Omori, I inherited it (with the original tag) in very poor shape. It disliked its position and it was pruned like an HT. I tried to nurture it without moving it but it got only slightly better. This year it's in a pot in a sheltered sunny location and unless I see it doing well (at least two new strong canes), I will get rid of it.
My Secret Gardening Club plants came, although no alchemellia mollis which was a disappointment. Its been refunded instead.
This is the Knautia Macedonica. Which looks like two separate plants the leaves are so different between the two shoots! Is this normal for this plant does anyone know?
I have Marlorena to thank for the recommendation of Burgundy Ice!
@edhelka, well most of those roses were cheats, in sheltered locations or only brought out of the the protected environment of the polytunnel and planted today. My DA roses in the west border were badly battered, with balling, small, distorted blooms. Warm Welcome, not a DA, shrugged it off. The rain has eased off a lot now, thank goodness.
A couple more yet to be planted out:
Bonica:
and especially for @WonkyWomble, the one you liked, Astronomia. Still can’t envisage how a full cluster head will look! The large blooms seem to be jostling for space:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I had advice last year on the forum asking how to get our climbing Rose to send our more beautiful White Roses on my arch out the front. Obelixx said to tie in vertically across the top and we had lots and lots more blooms. Now as you can see from this years pic will I have lots of blooms from all the new shoots growing vertical can't see any buds yet only leaves please advise
..just to answer @Mr. Vine Eye … nice plants from them as usual... in the last picture the Knautia is the left one, top left... the other I'm not sure but you need to separate them carefully and grow both on... the other might be a weed, although the foliage of Polemonium is similar.. perhaps someone else knows here, or ask on another thread.. I'm not great with perennial or weed i.d.'s..
@Valleys girl I can't see the foliage clearly but is your rose 'Mme. Alfred Carriere'?.. I would hope you get lots of flowers from those shoots, you should do but some old climbing roses like these can take a few years to give their best, assuming it's that variety..
Those shoots are going to need further tying in as they grow to stop them blowing around in a gale..
