I've just received my DA order...one of which is the wrong rose I've fired an email off so will see what they will do to fix it. I wouldn't mind keeping the wrong rose so I guess if I don't have to send it back, not bad all in all Still kind of annoying though. If anyone is curious, they've sent me Fragrant Delight (floribunda).
@peteS I would pot it up and see how it goes, I think it could well recover for you. Fingers crossed!
Result @Omori . I just looked it up, FD is an ideal rose to receive under these circumstances, easily absorbed into inventory, imagine if you were allowed to keep something like Cecile Brunner! I got mine today too.
@owd potter What a great find, to me looks like you've done brilliantly wih it but others will advise I'm sure. I wonder what it is.
I'm pretending all is right with the world today
Out in the garden some things are resisting the season
Top left clockwise, Royal William, Sandringham, Blush Noisette, Eye of the Tiger with an unknown but very floriferous clematis starting up again.I pulled my pots under cover from the storms, Easy Does it, Elina, DA roots, Odyssey
Variations of Dames de Chenonceau, first bloom still the one from last week
Hi @newbie77 the correct rose is Fragrant Cloud, so it was a picking mixup as they’re so close in name. I also ordered Buttercup, Gabriel Oak, and Eustacia Vye. Thank you again for letting me know it is on TCL, next time I’ll know to check names in other languages! And yes very true @Tack! Your roses are gorgeous.
@owd potter I think you’ll have a better idea of how things will go with your new discovery next spring, with regards to new growth and how well it flowers there etc. For now I would just add some mulch. Does it get much sun there?
Just something interesting I read the other day, some of you probably already know regarding new additions by DA...each year they grow some 250,000 seedlings to trial, and out of those 250,000, they usually find around 6 roses to introduce each year. But those new introductions actually began their process of being picked for production around 8 years prior. So each newly introduced rose equals around 8 years of work, and hundreds of thousands of seedling trials that ended up in the burn pile.
@Tack, you have got so many lovely flowers! Looks like you have summer in the garden and its Nov now.
@Omori, you have got very nice selection from DA. Today I picked a bloom of Gabriel Oak and it smells lovely.
Interesting to know about the rose breeding program of DA. I am hoping there would be some nice introductions next year. Sometimes I think we are lucky to be in modern time to have so many nice varieties of plants available to us. In past this would have been possible only for very privileged.
4 down 1 to go...I'm just waiting for 'Ab Fab' to arrive from Beales and my project will be complete...thank goodness...potting up is not something I enjoy I must admit. I've dug up 3 as they were completely overcrowded and I will have added 2 new ones when finished. Are there any special measures I need to take to get them through winter, or can I just leave them to the elements.
@Tack, I'm intrigued also. It does look spookily similar in growth to a rosa canina that was identified by Marlorena last year, but minus any hips, so we'll see. I'll be sure to let you know come springtime. Thanks @Omori, it will now be in full sun but was previously completely in shade cast by the overgrown lonicera. I did also think about notching the main stem lower as I recall Marlorena advocating some time back, but as there are no discernable buds on the lower stem thought I'd try retraining it. We'll see. Nothing ventured and all that... cheers

I googled Fragrant Delight and it looks good too. Not large so can be accommodated somewhere in garden.

Beautiful roses, all. I have already received all of my autumn orders except one from Trevor White and one from Sarah Raven.
Thought about getting more from DA but I'll see if I can not kill Gabriel Oak and LofShalott first.
@Tack I'm very jealous of all your blooming roses. I think I need to put umbrellas in all my pots to give them half a chance of blooming.
I have managed some stem cuttings from Desdemona and Eustacia Vye. Keeping fingers crossed they do well.
