Hi @purplerallim if it is any comfort, one of my patio roses in a pot went from glossy and healthy to mildewed. I realised that I had been deluded by the heavy rain into thinking it didn't need watering - but of course it did. So I removed the worst affected foliage, and watered it like mad. I also moved it to an even sunnier spot (which I realise you can't do!). I am now watering regardless of any rainfall. It has completely recovered, and loads of buds etc. Good luck!

My husband is indifferent about plants and gardening. He likes the garden a lot and he likes it lush, green and wild but the details are up to me. He also likes fragrance and often asks for more scented plants. Roses are fine but he wouldn't want a rose monoculture or formal rose garden.
@B3 I would be tempted but I plan to buy one from TCL... for 2.50 Euros for a much bigger plant.

I feel guilty about all the roses in our garden now as my husband hates thorny plants. He is suitably admiring about the flowers, appreciates the garden more and more with age, he is great at all the garden jobs but leaves design to me and will indulge me in most things but the wounded looks when he gets spiked don't get the correct sympathy anymore. I am a no gloves gardener but I buy him the most thorn proof gloves annually as they wear out. Does anyone have a really good glove recommendation please? I guess as our roses grow I had better get gauntlets too.

Scented Garden looks lovely @Marlorena, I think I must be drawn to the open roses at the moment. Your Tottering is always a delight.

I think my white choice is between Pearl Drift and J Humery, thank you for the additional info @edhelka, any pics?

My OH is not a gardener either but appreciates everything I do, is happy to help with tasks, and is very supportive, so couldn’t really ask for much more!

I’ve been complaining that it feels more like autumn than summer, now we have heat like today I want autumn back 😆

An astounding 35.6 degC at 1pm  according to my very local met office. I ventured out and shaded and watered some roses (very careful not to wet leaves), it's a wall of heat

@Mr. Vine Eye I could almost see a vivid image of your disappointed face with your wife’s ‘eugh’.. If it helps, I actually love Vanessa Bell’s fragrance.. it’s beautifully mellow and certainly not overpowering. Very easy on the nose. I’ve been drawn to it both times when I visited DA
garden last year.  I am very sure Marlorena agrees too since she’s got that monster of a Vanessa Bell.

Speaking of DA garden I’m quite disappointed by the fact that they have decided not to reopen this summer. Given a lot of RHS gardens have reopened I was hoping for the opposite..
