@Mary370, I may well be wrong but I believe Sexy Rexy was named for Rex Harrison, the actor.

I visited our garden centre today, for the first time since it reopened. Most roses were either between flushes or they removed the blooms after the recent rains. Most of them were flower carpet roses and various celebration/gift floribundas and HTs, boring. Some DAs, I liked the fragrance of 'Tranquility'. Other than that, I liked rugosas and spinosissimas. 'Dunwich rose' and one more which I don't remember, both with beautiful ferny foliage. The most pretty rose there was 'Rosa glauca', with two last blooms on it, the foliage is so beautiful that even my husband liked it :)

I'm really disappointed with my teasing georgia. I bought it last year and its got really weak growth. It has just finished its first flush and the flowers were really droopy  and top heavy. I@m not sure what I@m doing wrong with it :(

Hi all, I have a Margaret Merrill that I adore, but flowers are very sparse this season. How should I prune it to get more flowers?

It’s amazing how fast this thread moves when you are gone for a couple of days. On the plus site there are so many fabulous rose photos to catch up on.

I have a lovely little patio rose with really strong scent, not idea which one it is, it was bought a few years ago. It suffered from black spot quite badly a couple of years ago and I pruned it back - rather badly. It now grows sideways. I would like to improve the shape to make it look a bit fuller but I’m worried about pruning it too hard and loosing it. What would you do?

I also have been looking at Reine des Violettes. Is anyone growing it as a climber? What is it growing habit and would you recommend it?

@rock_hen, that's quite normal for a DA rose, our resident rose expert Marlorena says it takes 3 years to grow well before it strengthens and looks good - so patience!

@Watsonia, I'd just cut back those sticking out branches about a foot or so to a leaf joint. Can't help with your other query I'm afraid.

@Sammymummy, mine's just the same so I'd also like to know how to produce more flowers. I think Marlorena recommended a weak weekly dose of tomato fertiliser so I'm trying that.
