I did remember to tell the pharmacist I was now taking both steroids and blood thinners so he double checked with a colleague and confirmed it was okay to proceed. I hope he's right as the Predisilone Patient Leaflet said not to have vaccinations. Something to do with my immune system now being compromised? Anybody know more?
I'm assuming it is more important for me not to catch the new Covid variant.
I believe steroids (like Prednisone) damp down the immune response, so your immune system might not respond to the vaccine (develop antibodies etc) in the normal way, or maybe to a lesser extent or more slowly than without the steroids. If you're on the steroids long-term rather than just a short course, it might be better to have the vaccinations anyway than to go without them.
I'm sure @punkdoc will be able to clarify, and surely pharmacist wouldn't have given the vaccinations if it wasn't appropriate.

The missus and I both had texts from our surgery and have appointments 2 minutes apart on Saturday. That also happens to be her birthday. At least she can't claim I never take her anywhere on her birthday now. I know how to show a woman a good time.
Although I'm not in the age cohort who are recommended to have this booster, and the NHS app won't let me book it for that reason, I would like to have it as I have only had two shots so far.
I religiously listen to 'This Week in Virology'. The experts there do make the point that for healthy younger people, their vaccination derived (memory T cell) immunity is likely to still be good (if they are fully vaccinated), and at-risk vulnerable groups are going to get the most out of the booster - which will give a sort of time-limited enhancement to your immunity. Ideally you want the peak of enhanced immunity to coincide with the peak of Covid infections....

My son takes steroids long term, he’s had all the vaccines so far. He did get COVID and was quite ill, a worrying time, but thankfully he did get over it with no long term effects, so they must have helped.

We had texts from our surgery for Covid and flu. I had to drop a prescription in so asked to book me in. No problem at all. Mind you I wrote an actual letter the other week and popped it in their box because surgery was closed and I'm still waiting for a reply.
Hmm … well I thought I’d booked an appointment for the 28th but I’ve not had a confirmation email or text, so I went online to check and the site appears to be down or at least struggling with a glitch.
So I rang 119 … when I pressed the COVID jab option a recording told me that all the operators are busy … ‘Goodbye’.
So I rang the pharmacy I’d chosen and explained … ‘You’ve not had a confirmation have you? the nice pharmacist said … ‘No one has.’ She said I could ring 119. I explained that they just said goodbye and ended the call. ‘Oh dear ‘ she said ‘we’ve been telling everyone to ring them … and we can only see the diaried appointments on the day they’re due’ … so she can’t tell whether I’m booked in or not either
I’ll try 119 again tomorrow … or perhaps if I’m awake in the wee small hours 🤔
The site was working fine just now at 0215 so I’m booked in for Friday morning … for once, waking in the night was useful … now I’ve just got up get back to sleep 😴

Why does the vaccine make you feel tired? Loads of internet sites say it does - I know that! But I can't find one that explains why without ticking the permissions box.

Steroids are certainly not a contraindication to vaccines.
