The Thursday applause seems to be getting louder in our road. Music playing, banging saucepans with wooden spoons, some sort of horns being tooted. We saw a couple of fireworks the other night.

Talking to my in-law’s, and others, it seems that the Thursday clap is now an opportunity to wave to neighbours as much as anything. This is a another positive for people who don’t see anyone all week.

Re the reward for NHS/Social Care staff - I am not sure whether this will actually happen. In the US they have talked of ‘hazard pay’ as an idea. There may a bit of awkwardness with the reward as all staff are affected in one way or another but some staff will be working in full PPE with very sick patients all the time (like ITU and specialist wards) and other will be in lesser or no PPE or having managerial roles during this time. Everyone has a part to play, but do we reward higher for those who are ‘front line’?? We could argue it’s part of their job, or we could argue that as other workers in the country are being paid just to be ‘off’ then front line staff should receive a bonus of some sort...

We continue to ignore the ancillary staff who clean the floors, empty the bins etc

USA here- I am disgusted with all those who protest in state capital cities who have guns- some assault rifles- in hand.  Peaceful protest does not include guns.  All of them did not wear masks and observe social distancing. At an Illinois protest a woman had a sign in German with the quote from the gate at Auschwitz on it. Those idiots are endangering everyone. Some media coverage here may be alarmist, but I do not think so.  I would like to avoid this- my husband is VERY high risk. I go to grocery store. I have made 2 expeditions to nurseries- one of those was recent. It was a 1-man operation.I made an appointment, picked up hellebores I had ordered and paid- 5 minutes. I have a fabric mask-  and I use it.

Course, they have the "right to bare arms", the also feel their consitutional rights are infringed by social distancing and other measures.  I can see people in the deprived areas feeling very hard done by, they dont have the befifit structure we have, a lot have no health insurance.  Complete oposite of the comunist regines, think we are somwear in the middle.  I am on another forum, people saying we should get a grip, its all been blown out of proportion, hardly anyone really died of CV, if you are young fit and healthy, its no problem, they are more worried about their megga bucks lifestyles.  I am afraid I put the economy can recover, you cant recover from death!!  Anyone seen what Ex Rebelion want to do next, I would put them to work 14 hour shifts in ITU, see how they feel then.

The right to bare arms - how many thousands of lives that would have saved! 😉
