It's difficult to be really worried about two things at once - for me anyway. My brain is prioritising Ukraine. Maybe that's why people are getting careless about Covid safety measures.

I caught a brief mention on the radio of yet another Covid variant . I think it was supposedly not as serious re symptoms but more easily transmissable.  Don't know if anyone knows more ?
According to local news, rates of infection are now rising in SW UK.

Rates of infection rising in the East of England too.  I don't know where they are getting the figures from as most people I know simply self-isolate if they test positive on an LFT or have symptoms and don't bother to tell anyone that is what they are doing.  I would be the same.
Touch wood covid-free until now but below the threshold for a 4th jab and judging by how few masks I see being worn in shops I too think it inevitable that I'll get it, after 2 years of being careful.  Daily hospital admissions/deaths etc no longer being reported.

@didyw we've been contributing daily for nearly two years to the Covid study being carried out by Tim Spector

via the Zoe app which gives us access to all sorts of info about infection rates etc.

I'm guessing more than 50% of shoppers using my nearest SM still continue to wear masks but the management are no longer demanding it - just asking people to wear one "if they are able to".  The social distancing has long gone out the window tho.
Have so far not received any offer/notification of a 4th jab/booster despite having the 3rd one at the end of November and both I and OH being in the age range 70 to 85.

My parents (aged 79 and 81) haven't been offered a fourth jab yet, and they had their 3rd in September. They're worried about the lack of distancing and mask-wearing in shops etc.

The government funding is being withdrawn @didyw but, according to the email we had the other day, they're determined to keep going

Just back from Sainsbury’s. About 50/50 mask wearing, but no sign of social distancing in the checkout queue. Most staff wearing masks though. We wouldn’t usually have gone on a Saturday, but we had run out of bread. ( OH still hasn’t twigged that if he takes the last slice out of the bag, it means there is no more, and it would be helpful to let me know.)
