My Oh had a coffee at his preferred café this morning while I was at my Swiss Ball class.  He told me that the owner's two children had caught Covid and have been off school since Friday.  I hope they didn't pick it up at the café.  They seem pretty thorough and screen the new clients.  The schools around here are having a time with Covid circulating.

I took OH to see the Blue Badge assessor at a nearby town about 7 miles away (why?). The appointment was at a large recently built Community Clinic/GP Centre with ample free parking. There as absolutely no sign of any vaccinations being undertaken which I found appalling. It appears the GP's unions are still digging their heels in over more pay for doing the job.

Locally, hundreds of flats have been built on sports grounds ( but that's another issue). No extra doctors, dentists or anything.

Sorry @Lizzie27, nothing to do with money, many GP's are not doing the vaccines, they are often being done in other places, so GP's can try to continue working as normal.

Our GP practice is mainly doing only flu jabs at special weekend clinics, to avoid having too many people in the waiting room at once. We did have our Covid boosters at the surgery, but they were being careful not to have more than a few at a time, with the requirement to have to sit for 15 minutes afterwards. There were regular patient appointments going on as well, but obviously only as many as could be accommodated with the massive reduction of chairs in the waiting room.
i think the social distancing need is one of the main reasons why boosters are being provided at bigger centres. Our local centre is in a massive warehouse style building, with plenty of room for ‘recovery’ chairs. I was surprised that our local pharmacy wasn’t providing jabs, but when I thought about it, they wouldn’t have room to do more than one person, or couple, every twenty minutes, without compromising either safety or social distancing.

Haringey has six allocated health clinics for the whole borough doing bookable vaccinations. These are the best centres that can offer the infrastructure. There will have been a lot of careful weighing up in the choices. Some pharmacies are offering jabs too.

Just watching Parliament. Plenty of coughing going on and some sounding quite ‘bunged-up’ 😬 interesting 🤔

  • Omicron has been declared as the dominant strain in London as of today.  20 thousand jump in all case numbers nationally . Anyone who doubts the seriousness of this,  needs to think again.

I'm not doubting how serious Omicron is, but where did you get your +20,000 nationally figure from? The UK Gov daily figures (from here https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases) show a steadier rise - going up and down still - but with the general trend being up.

Edited to add: Omicron specific data from the gov : https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-omicron-daily-overview
