I had my booster on Thursday. When I went online to book, couldn't get a slot much before the end of the month, but there was a pop up walk-in listed, so took a chance on that and got my jab, no problem. Gains me 2 more weeks protection
The surgery rang me about a shingles jab, so I'm booked in for that next Thursday. I'm starting to feel like a teabag, all these little perforations!
A local lady 63, fit and healthy, double jabbed, led by all accounts a sensible COVID avoiding lifestyle, died on Friday in our local ICU. I was talking to an ICU colleague about this and he said that currently one third of their COVID patients are double jabbed. Food for thought.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@punkdoc and @CostumedVole I would say "C'est la vie." We can still get the "flu'" even when vaccinated. It's just how our bodies are ready to cope with it. Call it what you like - destiny/your number is up/bad luck. Win some, lose some.
I have just had the 3rd jab. I wear a mask, keep my distance etc. But you never know where people have been ..... as the saying goes.
Interesting and sad @punkdoc . He has been noting up-thread to keep being careful.
Keep distancing, wear masks, wash hands, get jabs, ventilate rooms and try not to get covid. Don't be blasé, thinking jabs will protect you and you or family can swan about not caring, even if you have no underlying health conditions. Even if we are careful, we can't be sure. But it pays to be careful. Keep on keeping on. Even if it's boring, it will save lives. 🌱

It says here it may be that 19 million lives have been lost to covid. That's equivalent to the whole population of Chilie. Gone.
Yes, I think that was the message I had in mind. I think a lot of vaccinated people think that the problem has gone away, it really hasn't. Immunity in double vaccinated people is starting to decrease, very significantly in some people. I also think that people who are due to have a booster over the next couple of months should be particularly careful. It is difficult to convey severity, without sometimes sounding alarmist, but most people on here seem eminently sensible and will draw the appropriate conclusions?

What really cooks my noodle that nobody seems to think they had a personal role in killing so many millions. It seems taboo or bad manners to talk about this. I know people whose response to the first lock down was to throw as many large parties as they could and invite dozens of people over to stay. They stick two fingers up to distancing, cleansing, masks and have done since day one. They expressly seemed to want to go to as many crowded places as they could, as an act of rebellion. But do they think they had a role as a disease vector? "Moi?" What did they think was the result of all the cosying up, all the parties, all the friends staying, dinners, clubbing, flying all over Europe when you were told to stay put? They concieve themselves as entirely incidental to the spread.
It's some kind of weird personal exceptionalism - the govt is to blame, China, Cummings, Bill Gates, the Lizard King, hasids - absolutely anyone else. Suspicion pointed outwards. Or it's just 'natural' and 'inevitable', a thing that nobody can do anything about; Fate, god, 'modern times', like the success of Cocoa Cola or another Marvel film release or the extinction of the white rhino.
