Wife is sick, sore throat, headaches, staying in bed - honestly it could just be her seasonal hay fever which hits hard every spring, but there’s no sense chancing it.
So much for getting stuck into the garden while I’m working from home! 😅
Yes, the Spanish have different priorities @Rik56, tobacco/cigarettes are only sold in licensed Tabacs and the addiction must be fed, so they are allowed to stay open. I find the fact that hairdressers are allowed to stay open even more astonishing, everyone sitting side-by-side as it’s generally a queuing system rather than by appointment, all that steam and heat, hairdresser bending over you to wash your hair and cut your fringe, all the old ladies sitting under the dryers to set their rollers - so much for the 2m distance!

Funnily enough @Nollie I wrote on the other thread about hairdressers thinking they would be closed here, but of course as in Spain they may well be open as an essential part of life! I will find out. Also tabacs open here.
Snap! just read your post on the other thread @floralies. Garden centres and DIY stores are FAR more useful than hairdressers and much easier to keep your distance. I’m thinking of all those projects I could be doing here, in my splendid isolation, if only I could get the materials...

I'm going to the hairdressers this afternoon, by car, not the bus as usual. It's only a one-woman band so unlikely to be crowded. I'm going to pay her for 3 months haircuts in advance, in case I can't get there soon - I think she will really struggle to keep her business going. She's been my hairdresser for more than 35 years, so don't want her to go under, she's more a friend. And I'm doing the same for my beautician tomorrow as I have a monthly back and shoulder massage to keep me supple.
You are to be applauded @Lizzie27. I do worry about the effect on all our local businesses, such as garden centres, hardware shops, bars, shops and restaurants and whether a short shutdown will achieve anything apart from send some of these to the wall. The bigger chains should cope but it’s the little guys that will suffer.
