I've just spent over two hours on the internet trying to register for Sainsbury's online shopping service. I haven't been able to book a delivery slot for the next 3 weeks as far as I can tell, it won't let me click on any time slot for any day. I started to compile a grocery order and an hour later, the screen completely froze and I lost the whole thing! I am just so fed up, I'm reasonably internet savvy and shop online but their website was a nightmare to navigate. If I'm having difficulty, older people have no chance of doing online shopping.
Very good @steveTu. Took me a couple of minutes to twig
@Lizzie27, from what my daughter is saying, they'll be inundated with people trying to use home delivery, in the mistaken belief that they'll get stuff they can't get in the shop itself. Where she works, they'vehad a massive increase, and they reckon it's because people believe the delivery is coming direct from a distribution centre/warehouse, rather than the process that actually happens - ie, it's simply sorted, packed and delivered from the store where they normally shop.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

In a meeting this morning our councillor and schools have set up a borough wide system of Whatsapp groups to co-ordinate street by street support for vulnerable people. The Whatsapp is not for the neighbours, but for the co-ordinators who will go door to door. We have a low uptake of tech with over seventies. We can't be relying on supermarket delivery. Ocado too, in my area, is now booking three weeks down the line. Plans here too include "borrow my bike" deliveries by neighbours and car sharing.
Maybe find out what your local councillors are doing to make on the ground plans; If local schools or other hubs are take a lead in planning. Someone has to take fast leadership locally, rather than just complaining. Tech will be key for co-ordinating.
As someone over the recommended age for staying in, I’ve just looked in my tesco app(I can do this despite my age)😉 and none of my groceries have been removed, even the bag of bread flour I ordered and was restricted to one bag per customer has been lifted, should I want two, which I don’t. I know where my shopping comes from, the store in Plymouth.

I think Ocado has closed to new customers so suspect most of the other SM's will do so soon. I was hoping to get onto Sainsbury's (where we usually shop) but so far no luck.
Actually the process for supermarket deliveries varies. Tesco and Waitrose deliver from the local store but Sainsbury's and Ocado use massive distribution centres.
