It’s not at all nice, Debs, I sympathise with anyone who has worked in the health departments.
Once the floodgates are opened on Monday there’s going to be a lot more infections.
I expect we’ll see the usual masks under the nose, under the chin and hanging off the ear.

That’s what annoys me almost nobody seems to wear the masks correctly and people are happy to get really close with their mask under their nose. I know it’s easier but it’s pointless! I am putting my faith in the vaccines

I couldn't understand why the infection rates are rising so rapidly now, when face masks are still mandatory, then realised that of course so many people wear them incorrectly.  On public transport people eat and drink all the time - and you can't do that with a mask on, so they are in effect not being worn on public transport either.

I went into town on Monday (first time in ages) and was surprised by how many people are exempt from mask-wearing.

Well, ignoring the R number then, we can still study the number of known infected people in an area.

A couple of weeks ago (maybe a little more I can’t remember exactly) here in Derbyshire Dales the infection rate was 3 people per 100,000.  Today, the number is 275 per 100,000.

Vaccinated or not, that’s an awful big jump in the likelihood of being within coughing distance of an infected person in the shops.

I made the mistake of walking down the pavement today to get something from the garage. In an otherwise empty road, a man was walking towards me. As he drew near me he made no effort to step into the road to give me space. He then coughed several times, openly and without covering his mouth. With that sort of mentality out and about, I’m staying in.

Covering your mouth and nose and turning away from people when you need to cough or sneeze is plain good manners, COVID or no COVID. Unfortunately there are lots of folks out there who don't seem to have any. It makes me want to give them a good shake. And I'm guessing it's the same people who will stop wearing a mask just as soon as they legally can and will ignore requests to wear one in shops etc. I hate to even think about their hand hygiene :s.

I will not be wearing a face covering from Monday. I am except but have been wearing  (and struggling) all the while it was a legal requirement.  Not at work though ( in a factory but mostly on my own).
I will still be sanitising my hands and respecting distance.

    ANYONE SENSIBLE will:

WEAR A MASK  [ if not exempt ]
    WASH HANDS FREQUENTLY
KEEP THEIR DISTANCE, AVOID CROWDED SPACES
    GET VACCINATED

However it is time to try and resume a more normal life, within those constraints, as much as possible.

Mandatory mask wearing is pointless if masks are worn incorrectly and I think the rise in cases make it very clear that’s the situation and I for one am very concerned about the environmental impact of all these masks, test kits etc. Heartbreaking for those of us desperately trying to reduce plastic use.

You’ll never know who’s genuinely exempt,  lots of people boasting  about getting away with it.
you can buy your exemption lanyard and badge on amazon or eBay.
anyone wonderig why this wil never be over, I’m sure if lots of people had take the care earlier it wouldn’t have been so bad for so long
