Yes, and my usual SM has push thru spray thingy for the trolleys and a no-touch hand spray activated by putting one's hand in the hole.   Masks are still required here in busy outside places such as pedestrianised streets and markets and all shops and public transport.

For the patch club AGM on Monday I had to use a scan system on my phone to check everyone's Passe Sanitaire/QR code and masks were worn until sat down.  QR codes are checked before being allowed in bars, cafés, restaurants and at an Open Doors evening for a dance club last night.

Having the mask, hand washing and spraying and Covid Pass is not restricting our lives but is probably saving a few as well as stopping people suffering long Covid.

In supermarkets in Oakham and Uppingham about 75% are still wearing masks.

  • @B3 YES!  Empty sanitiser dispensers are everywhere now.  I touched four in the same store on Sunday and still didn't get any gel.  Luckily I carry some in my rucksack.  I had exactly the same thought about it being a great way to help the virus.

  • I tend not to use the shop sanitisers. We buy large containers of medical-grade sanitiser online and decant it into smaller pump action bottles  and pocket/handbag sized spray bottles and use that … frequently. Also there’s always some in the side pocket of the car door together with a pack of masks and some latex gloves.
We use masks in all buildings and whenever we’re out and about near other folk. OH works in a shop and wears a mask all day.
The garden centre near here has notices up everywhere asking folk not to enter if they’re not prepared to abide by their ‘regulations’, unless they have a medical reason not to.

We have a lot of the foot operated sanitizers here for hands, the SM has them as well as the doctors waiting room and they are always full.
  • I've travelled up to London on the Central line a couple of times recently and mask compliance is very variable. Towards the Eastern end of the line I reckon only about 10% of passengers were wearing masks but toward the Western end it's much higher - maybe as many as 80%.

I still wear a mask in busy shops and supermarkets.  I don't wear one if I'm in a large enclosed space and there are few people about.  For example, the indoor area of our local GC was virtually empty so I didn't wear a mask, but did in the queue in the cafe.

I live in an area currently with one of the highest infection rates in the country.
Yet in the past 7 days there have been only 6 people admitted to hospital and no deaths.
Covid at one time was the highest cause of death in the UK,it is now around 24th so there are 23 other things that could kill you before Covid.
In the whole of this pandemic I only know 2 people that have had it (both last year).
That does not mean we need to be complacent about the risks but just get it in proportion.
I still wear a mask etc in crowded places but otherwise things are back to as normal as possible.

Data may be incomplete for the current day or week.

In 2019 around 60 million (60,000,000) people died Worldwide and that was before Covid.
Yes a lot of people have died as in a pandemic such as this one people do.
This is a virus that will be endemic for a very long time and we are just going to have to come to terms with that.
I will take precautions but I will not live in fear.
