I doubt very much whether we are going into a third wave. We're heading into summer when the virus normally dies down, a big proportion of us are vaccinated now, it's the younger generation who are now catching it as the Indian variant is more transmissable but as far as I can tell, it is not being translated into lots of hospital admissions/deaths.
You are extremely unlikely to catch it out in the open air, so it doesn't matter how many people go for a walk or congregate on a beach and that has always been the case.

Time to stop being scared, start living  (sensibly) and try to help the economy. More woe will be caused in the long term and more jobs lost with all the misery that entails if we don't make an effort to get back to some sort of normality.

I'll stick my head down now.

I have heard more than one scientist/medic say there is a real risk of a 3rd wave,  if we open up too quickly before all adults are vaccinated.

I believe the vaccine is now being offered to under 30s, in some places it’s anyone over 18. We are on target for 21st June when every adult will have been offered the vaccine if people choose not to have it that’s absolutely fine but don’t ask anyone else to put their lives on hold any more. I cannot wait to return to normal and everyone I know feels the same. @Lizzie27 I will join you below the parapet now.

I would love to believe we were coming to the end, but the Government is about to reconvene the COVID Acute Care Group, which is a worry.
How can you lie there and think of England

For what it's worth, I don't think there will be an 'end' to Covid, we just have to learn to live with it and manage it as best we can.

Don't forget, the media generally love to publish bad news and always have, so it behoves us to take a reasonable, considered view on what is happening. For everything one scientist/expert believes, there will be another with a completely different viewpoint.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we have another wave (and another one) and I will use my local hospital admissions/rates on ITU to guide how I advise my family to protect themselves by doing their own bespoke ‘lockdowns’, based on personal risk versus benefit, whatever the current rules are. This is how we’ve done it all along - always a stage more cautious than the official advice.

A friend posted on Facebook today a scientist doesn't want us unlocking on the 21st and yet the daily death, rate awful though any are,is under 10,the average daily death rate is at its lowest level for 5 years, and flu deaths for last winter were very low. I don't think it will ever go away. People thought I was mad when I said during the first lockdown it would still be around in a years time.

As predicted, cases on the rise again.  We might need to wait until more younger people have been fully vaccinated.

Maybe we need more or the younger generations (20's - 30's) to catch COVID and suffer ill effects. Maybe that way, more people will take the whole situation more seriously, that this shit is for REAL and it's not just the older and and people with existing underlying issues that can be affected.

Probably a very controversial take on the situation, but it sickens me to see how many people in that age bracket have behaved over the past year or so - as if there isn't a global pandemic and the selfish case of "I'm alright, Jack"

Last night I was shopping in Aldi and was annoyed to see the number of people not bothering with face masks, let alone cleaning trollies & hands on entry. I hasten to add that the majority were of the appearance of the less than desirable members of the public!

It's all good and well having repeated tannoy announcements asking everyone to respect the rules, but what's the point if the establishments aren't enforcing them? I'm sure that we've all seen this lack of action at supermarkets, shops, gyms, etc.
