Why not just do what hospitals do with PPE,  burn it.

I have made triple layer cotton masks from fabric offcuts so they match specific dresses and tops or at least tone in colour with what I'm wearing.    OH too.  Just a bit of fun but they have proved effective so far and are easy to wash and iron.

I use a blue "disposable" just once and di not feel safe - it was light, fitted badly and felt flimsy.   I did not feel safe.   I only need them for the weekly shop and trips to the GC, DIY or vet so max 2 hours.

A mask lies on the cloakroom window sill and disinfecting itself! Presumably this is a washable cotton or neoprene one,why do you not wash it in-between wearing. It has been known for many months the virus is airborne. Lying indoors is not going to De contaminate it

US study,90% of virus, that might work if you put it outside in the sun light. I still wouldn't use a disposable mask 4 times, what did you do in the winter when there was no sun. I walk to a shop less than 30 seconds away get papers, milk, bread, home in 5 minutes, dump mask in bathroom basin washhands wash mask. Let's hope on those hospital,GP, Dental visits you weren't a super spreader then!

I thought the virus could not survive on fabric for more than three or four days and, exposed to warmth and sunlight, rather less.

15 months ago, where was the most likely place to catch the virus, a Hospital. Sun light outside kills the virus, open air. I can't believe after all this time people still seem not to have grasped you wear a mask to protect OTHERS,not ,"feeling safe", wearing a surgical one! They aren't designed to keep the wearer safe, although they afford slight protection
