I had my 1st jab (AZ/Oxford) on 21st March and experienced the common side effect of being wiped out for a couple of days. However, since then I have continued to feel fatigued to the point where I can easily sleep 12+ hours and still feel tired. I find that if I have a lie down after lunch (no alcohol) I fall to sleep for 2-4 hours and I am still able to get to sleep around the usual time at night 11:00 to 00:00.
I turned 50 in March and even prior to having the vaccine, I occasionally dozed in an armchair whilst watching TV in an evening - certainly nothing to the extent that I am experiencing now. This is has been severally affecting my ability to work and things don't seem to be getting any better.
A couple of weeks ago I woke in he morning to find that I was 99% paralyzed and only able to slightly move my fingers and toes. Ambulance called, off to hospital, eventually managed to start moving again (same day), but no explanation as to what had happened / caused this.
I have had blood tests which came back fine for kidney, liver and thyroid. Cholestral every so slightly high, Vitamin D extremely low. My GP say that it is unlikely that these symptoms are due to the vaccine and has referred me for sleep analysis (sleep apnoea). However, I learnt today that a colleague at work knows somebody with similar fatigue issues since having the vaccine 5 weeks ago.
I am feeling rather cross with the French Government. They have just put the UK on the orange list for Covid which means 10 days quarantine on arrival in France. Testing requirements before coming are also different from those coming from other parts of the world. They involve a PCR test taken in the 36 hours before departure (instead of 72) or a PCR test taken within 72 hours and an antigen test taken within 24 hours of departure.
People may be fined 1,500€ if they do not comply with the quarantine.
Up until now the UK has been listed among the safest non-EU countries of the world. The French have now added it to India, Brazil and South Africa.
I think it's sour grapes as the UK Covid figures are so much better than France and I wonder if Brexit has anything to do with it. The French have already accused the English of stealing vaccines. They made a fuss over side effects of the AZ vaccine, then moaned when they changed their minds when they hadn't received enough. Don't they realise it was UK scientists who helped invent it? Also it's much cheaper than American vaccines as the USA want to make a profit and the UK try to help by making it more available and they don't make a huge profit.
The French government say it's because of the Indian variant, but now the French have their own variant, the Bordeaux variant.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Why doesn't the Gov stats site (https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases) add up? The total cases figure less yesterday's total cases figure no longer equals the daily cases. The figures on the web site were adjusted a few days back and since then the simple addition is now stuffed. Used to be fine (apart from the odd day where the numbers disagreed by 1).
I'm not surprised @Busy-Lizzie. Seems like common sense to me. The Indian variant seems highly contagious and favours the younger people tho that may just be because the older ones in the UK are now, mostly, vaccinated. I do not understand Portugal, Spain, Greece being so keen to receive UK visitors without testing and vaccinations.
I would have hoped, however, that anyone with both vaccines would be exempted from quarantine if coming home, rather than just visiting.

There is no way to dispose of the masks other than landfill or burning. There must be a huge impact from hospital waste alone. I encourage material masks for social situations as they are can be re-used.

Has anyone on the forum experienced similar?
Thanks

1. Vaccines are only 75-80% effective.
2. New variants are arising regularly, which may not be sensitive to the vaccine.
