OH had the Pfizer and I had Astra Zeneca. OH only had a sore arm and slight headache whereas I had a bad night with flu like symptoms and the next day was too tired to do anything. I also had painful joints and it seemed to bring out past problems I may have had. A week later I still don't seem to have fully recovered. I think it depends on how fit you are at the time of the vaccine. Only consolation was no effect on the arm whatsoever. OH has had both whereas I still have the second one to come next month.

Fran, I'm hoping the second jab will have none or lesser side effects given the second dose. I wonder if anyone who has had the second AstraZeneca jab can advise of their experience?

@Kili. I am hoping that the second jab won't have the same side effects. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has had side effects after the second jab of Astra Zeneca.
When I had my 2nd Pfizer vaccine yesterday, the nurse was said my side effects might be nothing, the same as on the 1st, or worse. We did chuckle as clearly nobody knows.
I can report today that I have some moderate side effects - heavy arm (fair enough), was restless and shivery last night, banging headache and mild aches today. These are worse than after my 1st dose. Could I have gone to work?? I might have struggled in, hoping the paracetamol would dampen the effects, but realistically no - I couldn’t work today.
I had COVID last Spring (asymptomatic) so was anticipating side effects on my 1st jab - as it makes sense that my immune system was ‘re-awakened’ by the vaccine. This is a documented finding and might explain why some people who haven’t had COVID don’t experence side effects on 1st vaccine.
As as much as I am disappointed to be feeling rough, I am very grateful to have had my vaccines and I feel that my body is telling me that my immune system is working. A small price to pay for protection.

I expect that there are quite a few people that have had the virus and been asymptomatic and obviously not known they did. Maybe these are the ones with a more pronounced reaction?

Yes that is what several of the medics are saying. If you have a strong reaction to the 1st dose you may have had the virus before even if you don't know it.
I must admit I had assumed I had had the virus with no symptoms because of my job, travel on public transport etc but I had absolutely no symptoms from my first vaccine apart from an aching arm so maybe not. I think it will be some time before we know all the facts, if ever. Once it’s over I imagine it’s the last thing we will want to think about.

lol.. I don't think you need to be an epidemiologist to come to that conculsion under the current circumstances

Take care all.
