We're due for our second AZ, but the GP surgery has run out of the vaccine.

Had you booked it in advance? I thought they were reserving the 2nd doses.
I only ask, as when I booked my jab online, it automatically booked the 2nd jab. My bro on the other hand, went through his surgery to get the first jab, and had to then book the second jab separately and was waiting for the surgery to contact him.

No they were supposed to contact us. My husband went down to surgery to enquire. Apparently we're on the list - whatever that means.

...sounds like my brother. He was waiting to be contacted and hadn't heard anything. I really don't see why they had two mechanisms for booking the jab(s). I had assumed that if you contacted your surgery, they acted as a proxy in putting in the details into the same system - but obviously not

The jabs you book on line are at these huge centres,  we were told just to wait for the GP to call us.  They only book one appointment at a time, the centres book for both.
glad I did wait for the GP as I didn’t have to wait the 12 weeks fortunately. If I’d had it done at the centre I’d still be waiting.

The young have very strong immune systems and when something like COVID hits them their system goes into overdrive.   This is the illness my son has,  if he’d have got COVID he would definitely had died.
You can’t advise them though, they think because they’re young and strong they’ll be ok.
All of our young ones in the family have had theirs bar the 33 yer old,  the only one with any reaction at all was the 36 year  old.  Even then she just had an early night and next day she was fine.  That was from either or both vaccines administered.

It to be decreasing now though so let’s hope.
