I am very sorry to hear about your loss @SporophyteBoy. However your broader point gets invalidated if you justify it with inaccurate data. You might choose to go back to your sources.
Well, hmm, yes - for whom doth the bell toll and all that. My missus has been quite badly affected and it's reminded us both that you rarely get a second chance when the Black Rabbit calls. Probably made worse by her not "doing" The News - she avoids wheneve possible, has no politics, no world view and rather blots out anything that doesn't concern our family - reports that she did pick up were like a war in a far off country - her cousin is the first casualty known to be real.
Would you care to detail the "data" I included in my post? We'll argue whether it "invalidates" anything once you point it out.
Went to Amersham Tesco last week and was impressed that everybody was wearing a mask of some description (there's always been a hardcore of dissenters on previous visits) ;however, about 25% of shoppers were couples who held discussions on every item! Three or four were in family groups including children.
I went up to my plot yesterday and passed about 30/35 people just in the centre of our village - not a mask to be seen and knotted in groups rather than antisocially distanced. I reckon now that the vaccine is being rolled out a lot of people think it's all over.
Oh I had that yesterday!a couple had a trolley each and loudly talked about what they were buying.at the beginning of the pandemic the staff would have someone at the front of the store and told people they couldn't do it.now they have a traffic light system.and no one uses the cleaning stuff for you or your trolley!
Boffle went on shaking hands, Cummings&Goings tested his eyesight ... and now Matt Hancock didn’t stay at home like he told us to, but went into a park full of other Covidiots and played rugby with his children. 😡

Over here they announced late last week the roll out of the vaccine from the 21st and starting with 75+ and those in homes and/or vulnerable. Attendance to vaccine centres to be confirmed online only - useful for non techy 75+ - and possibility to reserve a spare slot should take up leave unallotted vaccines. People started to feel optimistic.
Yesterday we were told STOP. The registration system collapsed under the load and there aren't enough vaccines so wait, don't call us, we'll call you.

He is allowed to go to the park and play with his children.
