  • I had a strong case of covid in December.  Does that mean waiting to take the vaccine?
  • In the UK the advice seems to be to wait 4 weeks after symptoms start or after the first positive test before having the vaccine.

Is the current weather in Texas going to have an impact on the vaccination programme?

I had COVID last Spring (asymptomatic) so was anticipating side effects on my 1st jab - as it makes sense that my immune system was ‘re-awakened’ by the vaccine. This is a documented finding and might explain why some people who haven’t had COVID don’t experience side effects on 1st vaccine.
I expect that there are quite a few people that have had the virus and been asymptomatic and obviously not known they did.
Maybe these are the ones with a more pronounced reaction?
Yes that is what several of the medics are saying.  If you have a strong reaction to the 1st dose you may have had the virus before  even if you don't know it.
No, not in my case. I was tested four days before I was due for a hospital procedure and was negative. The procedure was cancelled due to an increase in Covid cases at my hospital. I haven't been near anyone to catch it so its not likely for me and I suspect the majority of others.

I'd be interested to see the "Documented finding" if you have a link.

  • I'm not high on the list since I had covid and didn't have serious complications or underlying health conditions

Wiuld have liked my OH to have had a vaccine to cut my risk down a bit more but apparently they’ve run out and there’s no telling when they will do his age group.
No vaccine for 50-65 unless clinically at risk.

  • @Kili, this is  one of the difficult things, when us scientists say things.  IF you get a strong reaction it MAY mean you had the virus. It doesn't mean if you had the virus you will necessarily have a strong reaction,  nor does it mean if you have a strong reaction you must have had the infection.  It's just that a lot of people are concerned when they do have a strong reaction that there's something wrong.  One explanation is the original statement,  they are saying that the immune system is doing what it should.  All this is with the proviso,  if you have a bit of reaction but it continues more than 48 hrs, you should seek medical advice. If you have  a severe reaction,  then of course you should seek help immediately.  Hope this helps.

The sheet I got with my jab, said "symptoms can continue for 7 days" , yup, they did.
