  • Boris is making an announcement at 4 o'clock this afternoon.
  • He is set to announce a new tier 4 for London and the  SE as the numbers have escalated so much. The concerns are around the new variant which seems to be more easily transmitted.

I bet the tabloids are checking their green ink supplies...

I’m slightly surprised but very pleased to hear a step-up in restrictions. Will await the Wales news next ...

It's a pity he can't use the word "must" in place of "should".

So pleased the government has finally had the bottle to do the right thing.
Now waiting to see what our devolved government plans for us in Scotland.

I feel sad tonight. Not because people will be changing their plans, and not because Christmas has had the stuffing knocked out of it, but because of the seriousness of this situation. If we were in September, or May, this would still be a crisis.

    Stay safe.

  • Absolutely agree @AuntyRach ... more difficult times ahead ... :/

Personally, I think Boris is a bit late. We're still in Tier 2, but now next to Tier 4 - but our numbers have been rising quite rapidly over the past few days. I was surprised that he didn't announce Tier 3 around the Tier 4.
Anyway, does anyone know how the new strain affects the tracking app? The app was based on time-distance=points. Does the model still work?

Edited: That's badly worded (again) - sorry I'm not a wordsmith. I think the model still works, but do the parameters need to change? Obviously the app can't detect a strain, but it can detect location, so should the time/distance parameters change in the 'South' to err on the cautious side?

  • Of course Boris is too late ... following his own reasoning of being informed by the science he should’ve tightened the rules instead of announcing a relaxation for Christmas ... but he just wants to be loved by every one ... typical of a child with his childhood experiences ... take those experiences just a step or two further and you get the Trump-type behaviour ... and they both got elected by promising to do what would make the most people love them 🙄
