It is my view that animals should be slaughtered on the farm.

Slaughter of meat animals on the farm is just not possible. As soon as an animal is slaughtered it has to be efficiently and hygienically skinned and the entrails disposed of properly or otherwise dealt with to avoid contamination  of the meat by faecal matter, and the carcass and offal has to be inspected and passed as fit for human consumption

in fact, it may well be poor slaughter practices in ‘wet markets ’ where live animals are sold and then slaughtered, that gave rise to the virus we’re all struggling with at the moment. 😢

@B3 sorry but how stupid can you be?

The difference between an animal mauled by dogs and left to die a slow and painful death in a field because irresponsible owners let their dogs roam free and one that is killed swiftly in an abattoir is not just the humane aspect but also financial and the difference between a solvent farmer who can sell his meat for income and one who goes bankrupt because he has no income from savaged livestock.

Most farmers do actually care about the lives and welfare of their stock.  Their own livelihoods depend on it.

We do have a butcher that comes in a truck and will slaughter your animal on site.  He is fully licensed and follows ethical protocol and hygiene.  He is more expensive than taking your animal to the slaughter house.  I think the reason he is popular is that people are afraid their meat will get mixed with someone else's?  I'm really not sure.  I have never used him but my neighbor does.  If I am going to be killed please make it quick not a slow painful death.

Toilet duck would be better as it can be self-administered and it's ergonomic shape would ensure affective application at both ends of the body.
