I tell you one thing that will come out of this “lockdown”. The nation’s sock drawers will never have been so tidy.
OH has given the study a thorough sort out ... but he still hasn't found the big roll of my knitting needles which he thought he'd put there 'in a safe place' when I wasn't looking. He now things it may be in the garage .............. the GARAGE!!!??? 😵

Oh really! re: the letter, it will be sent electronically to a printer, then folded & stuffed in an envelope by another machine, it will be sorted by another machine that reads the post code automatically and so on. The only time it will be touched is when the postman puts it into his sack and when he puts it through the door, he/she will be wearing gloves! Get a grip folks .
I haven't been desperate enough to do the oven or the cupboard under the stairs - yet. I did label what i could identify in the freezer, though. Chilli is easy - look out for a kidney bean.
Yes of course all thing that are planned for always evolve to script don't they, as WW2 opened the government had planned for bombing raids where the local defence corps trained rescuing people from the top floors of houses, what actually happened was that they were rescuing them from basements but that's planning for you.
No, I'm not saying that the post office is putting the public at risk - I am saying ALL unnecessary contact with outside is putting people at risk. The govt have been saying that from day 1 - they said wash your hands after contact. That implies that ANY surface could be infected. That is what has been said for weeks. So - follow this - then for the PM to send a potentially infected letter to 13 million people is barking isn't it? As how does that keep minimal contact?
OK so people don't have the internet. Some don't have mobile phones either. Some don't have TVs, some don't have radios, some don't read papers (online or physical) - but that still doesn't make it sensible to put a potentially infected envelope through someone's door does it?
Well, we haven't been quarantining post at all, or shopping (although I did use latex gloves for this). It didn't occur to us that this was necessary as well. You could drive yourself mad with thoughts of possible risk from all quarters. Where does it end?
Why is it potentially infected ?... Boris isn't signing it himself, licking the envelope and sticking on the stamp himself ... someone types it, his office will have an electronic copy of his signature to use on such stuff and from there on it'll be sent to the place where it'll be printed, folded, stuffed into an envelope etc all by machine as @AllotmentBoy says ... it'll be sorted electronically too as it'll have a printed address with the postcode ... the first human likely to touch it will be the postman who delivers it.
Have you taped your letterbox up? 😕
