On my third or fourth hospital admission this month and I'm in a side room like usual - noticed nurses have been wearing less PPE. Maybe stocks are low?

I’ve just read this about my Sjögrens. I never realised!

Sjögren syndrome is an autoimmune disorder, meaning a condition caused by an attack of the immune system to the body’s own tissues.

In Sjögren’s the immune system primarily attacks the glands that produce tears (the lacrimal glands) and saliva (the salivary glands), compromising the glands’ ability to secrete these fluids.

Anybody with an education in biology and ecology will be familiar with the term homeostasis. When a organism or substance or “state” goes beyond the preferred norm an imbalance is created. It is the law of nature that this imbalance over any duration will be corrected if and when possible. Humanity (and I include myself before anybody starts pointing fingers) has become a drain on resources, taking more than it gives back to the global ecosystem. Cue natural corrective mechanism. It is blunt and insensitive To think in this way but I’m afraid it is also factually and objectively true. The widespread decrease of our negative effect on the earth is well overdue.
The problem really is the birth rate around the world.
The deaths so far from this disease in population terms is not very high compared to the birth rate.
Around 130 million births a year at the moment and yet so far not even half a million (known) deaths from the virus.
So roughly 360,000 births a day more than makes up for the death rate.
There may be an imbalance in the world but this disease is not going to reduce the population enough to make a difference.

I went out for a walk today and was disgusted to find disposable masks littering the pavement.
    1. where did they get them from?
    2. Those arseholes obviously wore them in the belief that it offered themselves rather than others protection.

This was only for a single week in May though. Belgium, Italy, Spain, France and the UK are still higher overall. It will be interesting to see how this pans out, especially as all the countries listed have now relaxed their lockdowns.

I think San Marino's death rate is the highest in the world. Belgium's death rate is much higher than Italy, Spain and the UK - which are all quite similar at the moment. Ireland, Sweden and the Netherlands are all fairly similar with France about halfway between those two groups. The US is a little bit lower again, but catching up quite fast.

But the WHO said yesterday they had the highest number of new cases reported in a single day (over 100,000) and there are lots of countries that are only just beginning to see cases start to increase. The pandemic may be easing a bit in Europe at the moment but it's far from over and globally, it seems very unlikely we're anywhere near the peak yet.

Possibly there aren’t as many Covid cases as there were on your previous admissions.

In Nottingham they have all the covid cases in Queens medical centre next to the Uni, and all immunocompromised such as chemotherapy has been moved to City Hospital.  Someone on the ball for once.
