I must put my hands up to going away in the UK three weeks ago for a week. I have only been out of the house a handful of times since March. Hubby worked from home for two months and then has been back full time. Hubby is used to travelling all over the country all year, and because of a broken shoulder hasn't been able to for two years prior to this year. So he had spent two years at home before this year, so I felt not going away would be detrimental to his health. We went to a Warner Hotel which had just re opened and was working at half capacity. It proved beneficial to both of us. We were well looked after, all precautions were taken, and everyone had a good time keeping at a social distance. I will probably be home now for the next six months.
Watched news a couple of nights ago, prof from SAGE, said he was extremely worried about increase in cases, especially the 17-21 year olds, and that this was not just caused by extra testing. Went shopping in "Town" Monday, huge amount of people not wearing masks in shops, am usually pretty good at guessing peoples ages, a lot looked late 20's early 30's. Shops all saying you have to wear a mask, some have someone standing or sitting at the door. Local Sainsbury, (and older daughter who works for them) say them get so much abuse, they won't challenge people. Signs up saying they are keeping us safe, they care about our well being, extra cleaning. Er, no, they care abouts their profits.I agree about the holidays, we havn't been away for 10 years. Arranging kids to come and look after annimals, and garden was a flaming nightmare. Had to write down who was fed what how much and when, the watering. When we went on our Honeymoon, my youngest son who was at home, was actually working away a couple of days, so neighbour, who had 2 dogs offered to feed our those 2 days. We had 2 border collies, the silly woman obviously didnt even look at tins, or packs. We came home to a large ammount of ahem, poo in the house, in those 2 days, she had given them a weeks worth of food. Then you come back with a huge pile of washing, nah, not worth the agro.
I went swimming yesterday at 2pm as I was off work (normally go in the evening). That was an eye opener!
The pool was full of over 75s refusing to obey the rules, 2 were asked to leave. Its not just young people who are the problem. Lets not forget younger people have to go out to work, and a lot are in low paid jobs where distancing is impossible.
A student was interviewed on Radio 4 yesterday to find out what she thought of young people being blamed for the current increase in virus transmission. She was of the opinion that the Government was just looking for 'an escaped goat'. Normally you'd laugh at something like that but it does actually sound like a Cummings-esque excuse that would be fully backed by Boris these days.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I hate how divisive this situation has become, as if the 'us versus them' wasn't bad enough already with Brexit, now its become about old versus young.

Copied from another thread probably the best advice you will get at the moment!

It makes me so sad.
