Makes you wonder why can't people just stay where they are and forfeit a holiday considering the global circumstances. Is it such a big deal not to go on holiday?
I'm going camping for a few days this week. Working in the NHS and living alone through lockdown (and then local lockdown) I feel like my life has been taken over by a microscopic virus, I need a change of scene and to feel as though I've got away from it, even if just for a few days, for the sake of my mental health.
Me too! I'm on a permanent holiday here where every day is Sunday!!
And yes, @pansyface it was like this down here with tourists during July and August. No beaches or outdoor amusements for me - a once a week tour of the supermarket, long early morning cool walks with the dog and gardening! We are gradually getting back into a green zone, but schools are already starting to close down with positive cases amongst the staff. Winter is just around the corner and if Australia is any indication, there will be another lockdown. I'm "lucky" - retired and happy with my lot!
Now I'm quite confused. Lincoln has just been told its on the verge of restrictions, due to numbers 36. Its just been reported that our testing capacity has been reduced over the last month due to more being needed in areas like Manchester/Leicester. Then after two days back we have four outbreaks in schools , two adults, two children, all over the county, only one school within 10 miles of Lincoln. The Uni hasn't opened yet, but plenty of 2nd years milling about. So is it holidays or the factory in Newark that has an outbreak ( in which a third of workers live somewhere in Lincolnshire) that have caused it. Plus in the schools why have they said that siblings testing clear can go back to other year groups in the school, while children/parents are isolating! The mind boggles.
I think the answer is that the government is completely incompetent and everyone is making things up as they go along. So far I have not heard anything that makes sense. The rules are contradictory and unenforceable. No wonder everyone is utterly sick of it!

Actually, the change of scenery did me a world of good. All my colleagues who’ve also had breaks away (in the U.K.) have felt the same. We’re not NHS but are in the public sector and most of us having been working non stop since end of March.
A lot of my colleagues are getting counselling at the moment due to stress and/or anxiety.
I have cancelled my trip to Rome in Dec which was booked last Dec before all this kicked off. It’s not Rome that bothers me, it’s the flight.
