Sorry to hear that you not well @hogweed. C19 or not, it’s just rest (with some light activity to keep the circulation going), plenty of warm drinks, paracetamol and whatever soothes eg. sweets, steam, essential oils. Obviously, if your breathing becomes difficult, short of breath etc then call 111 again. If it’s not C19 then even more reason to stay in so not to pick it up whilst you already have an infection. Take care.

When I had something a bit similar earlier this winter (goodness knows what it was but it was horrid and had left me with a dry cough) I found that almost continuous sucking of Jakemans Throat & Chest lozenges really helped my breathing. I don’t have shared in them but wish I did ... we bought them by the trolley full 😉

ive got a few packs in the cupboard  on standby just in case.

Hope you’re feeling much better soon. 😷

@hogweed  have you got a neighbour who can drop off supplies?

If you start to have difficulty breathing dial 999 for an ambulance. This applies whether it is "Just" a chest infection or Covid 19.  Other than that you just have to treat symptoms. Paracetamol for pain or fever.  Hot drinks etc. Above all rest. Any virus can take it out of you, you have to give the body time to recover.  Already compromised,  you need to self isolate if you can so you don't pick up anything  else.

Only just caught up again, there was a question earlier about the lockdown & transmission still rising. As I understand it there is at least a 2 week lag between lockdown and the infection rate dropping because people will still be incubating the virus having caught it before the restrictions came in. Also remember all these figures & timelines are averages so when they say 5-7 days to incubate 7 more to recover if it is mild 14-21 days if more severe etc,  some may be shorter many will be much longer.

My friends daughter is a dentist. She went down with it last Saturday. Vile headache, sweats, sore throat, couldn't smell anything despite nose not blocked.  She slept for two days. Then by Tuesday was a lot better. She has to stay in for 7 days after symptoms started. The two doctors she shares a  house with have to self isolate for 14 days from the day of her first symptoms. If they then show symptoms at 13 days, they still have to stay in for a further 7 days, so they could all be out of action for three weeks.

Lockdown may have happened but people still are going out. To work, shops, doctors, chemists all places where undoubtedly you get closer than you would want to but have no choice. Infection won't stop unless everyone stays home and that isn't possible.

That's why we have to self isolate for 14 days after daughter's symptoms started @fidgetbones. Tomorrow will be a week since she started coughing. On the mend now though, and her sister is fine. As you say, as long as I, or her sister,  don't get any symptoms,  by next weekend, fingers crossed we're in the clear.

She slept continuously too - for about a day and a half. The symptoms seem to vary quite a bit. She didn't have a temperature, but did have difficulty breathing after a few days.

This really is a most critical time.  I must be honest.  Reading comments on various forums, really how some folk are answering and reacting.  Please, please, grow up and face the facts.  Worldwide.  This virus is advancing faster than todays conventional warfare.  On the battlefront, the enemy can be seen an dealt with.  Here we are all possible victims of a totally unseen enemy, attacker.

This is a completely new threat to human life.  OK.  Yes.  We can all comment and critisize the government.  You should have done this and that sooner.  This is totally unknown to us all.  Each and every one of us are having to lear as we go.

OK many of us are denied to go and shop.  I personnaly am in the vunuable group, age and medical probs.  So what.  IMO there are many worse off than me.  I am living on whatever I have in the fridge or freezer.  Nationwide support.  What';s that?  I am doing my best at, limiting what I have and trusting in the help of my family.  Please everyone.  Try and remain calm and stay safe.

We are staying home and managing ro eat well on store cupboard, fridge and freezer supplies. I’m planning on cancelling our Dr and Specialist appointments for the next month. Hubby is vulnerable because of chemotherapy and we’re in the age group at risk.

Today on TV, the Victorian Health Minister told the upsetting story of idiots in hospital wards rippping hand wash fixtures of the wall, thereby leaving staff etc vulnerable. Head shaking here. Wot are they like? 😳🤬
