Just something for those poor people ( like @Fairygirl youngsters) who are coughing ( I know how bad the throat feels as I cough alot) to help with the soreness.
Take a mug of lemonade and warm it, in a pan or microwave, add sugar or honey and sip as hot as you can bear it, it really helps with the soreness without resorting to meds, or between meds. Hope this helps.😁

I find that any very hot drink helps with a dry sore throat, as well as with the itchy-throat feeling that comes with hayfever (yes, tree pollen season is here, oh joy!). For me it's tea (black, which I drink throughout the day anyway) or a slice of lemon or lime in a mug of hot water.
Do be careful not to scald your tongue or lips though.

If you can get the ingredients, this recipe is great for sore throats, coughs and also boosting the immune system.

4         lemons, juice plus zest if non-treated
    15ml    freshly grated ginger root
    50ml    honey
    10ml    cinnamon powder
    100ml  water

Blitz this all in a blender then store in an air tight jar and keep it in the fridge.  Take a teaspoonful, twice a day before meals, for immunity.   Take a bit more often for coughs or sore throats.

If you can cope with the taste, swapping a third to half the water for cider vinegar is even better.

I used to like hot ribena. Then they took sugar out and put sweeteners in. Now I stir a big spoon of my own blackcurrant jam into hot water. You can strain it, but actually I like chewing the skins in the bottom.  Sort of like blackcurrant pastilles that you used to get from Terry's .

PS, how do you do the embed a video thingy rather than a link?
There’s a tutorial here but I can’t get it to work.

@Lyn In the tutorial of that link, #5 says:

    5. Embedding video from YouTube or Vimeo

In the same way as the above method, you can embed video into your post from YouTube or Vimeo. All you need to do is copy the website address (URL) directly into the text editor.

Here are some more instructions, using the YouTube video mentioned by Nollie.

    1. Click the link provided by Nollie (or rather right-click that link to open the YouTube in a new tab in your browser).
2.- On the YouTube video page in your browser, look under the video itself and locate the SHARE button and click it.
3.- In the little window that opens, click the COPY button. This will copy the URL/address of the YouTube video to your clipboard.

4.- Navigate to the GW forum where you want to post your post and, in the editor, paste that address using your usual method (keyboard: Ctrl+V or mouse right-click -> dropdown menu-> Paste.
    Et voila!

@Papi Jo. We all know you can embed, that’s not terrible helpful to people that can’t do it.
Might have been better if you’d put some more instructions on instead of ‘I can do it!
    You're absolutely correct, @Lyn.
I've put some explanations in a new post.

Thanks for that @Lyn and @Papi Jo. I don’t think we need yet another link to that video so I will try it again on some future post!

Well the seriousness of the situation has finally sunk in with my 83yr old mum in the UK. At first, she was all ‘I’m fine, don’t worry’ and was letting my nefarious nephew (who was totally ignoring all advice) visit and storm through her house as he usually does, raiding the fridge and putting his dirty paws everywhere. She has now barred all visitors, her and Pa are totally self-isolating and my sister is doing her shopping and leaving it at the door. It does take some time to get your head around it, I think. I only hope it’s not too late for them. I feel helpless, as I am, in a different country, but at least my nagging over the ‘phone has finally worked. I had to explain in graphic detail what a horrible death it was and that she really didn’t want to die alone, in isolation in hospital, did she? As she has always been adamant she will not leave her house unless in a box, that seemed to have worked!
