I can’t get upset at an elderly or vulnerable person seeing a loved one at a decent distance in their garden.  I can’t imagine how hard it is to be housebound for this long with no human contact, and the rest of us are now allowed to meet up with one other person in a park, and they don’t have that option.

No pushing out of boats here, I did visit a garden centre, outside, social distancing, hardly any skin left on my hands. Thank goodness this didnt happen in the winter!  Someone in my local shop said to me, but surely if you can meet one person each day in the park, thats 7 people in a week, and they will also be meeting 7 people, etc, etc, honestly!!!  Friends Husband still in ITU, havent heard any more news as to how he is.  Frankly, not interested in anything that the WHO has to say, they didnt seem to take the problem seriously in the first place. Amazed to see in paper today, flights, no checks at airport.  My youngest daughters bloke is a key worker, before he sets foot in his work place temp is taken with a heat probe none touch.

Hi - do you have to wear protective masks and gloves when you go out?

It appears that lockdown, like tax, is for 'little people'
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Seeing people wearing gloves pointlessly, or even doing more harm than good, is stressing me out.

@tuikowhai34 , I think in France, one has to wear a mask, gloves I've haven't heard
mentioned. In the UK, masks are voluntary and the official advice is to wear one if you want to in crowded places or on public transport.

I wear a good quality mask and latex gloves when shopping once a week and remove both carefully when I get outside and put them in a plastic bag. They are then quarantined for 72 hours. The particular mask I've got is not comfortable to wear for long I found.

Hello @Lizzie27.  Yes, masks are obligatory especially on public transport. Secondary schools go back today and everyone has to wear masks. Reduced classes.  I went to the supermarket last week and about 80% of shoppers were masked.  At the entrance to the supermarket (just inside) there is the gel and paper towels for wiping hands and trolley handles.  Gloves are not mandatory but I wear the latex kind too (shocking pink)!!  They get washed when I get home and then dipped in a solution of bleach and water and then clear water and hung out - I have made masks which get the same treatment.  They get a dunking in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and hung out without being wrung out.  The mask makes my glasses steam up and as soon as I put it on, I want to scratch my nose or eyes - I think we all have the same problem.  The beaches are open for walking etc.  No "loitering" or sunbathing and yesterday, some loiterers were sighted by a drone and got a verbal warning (from the sky) to "move on".  The police helicopter patrols the beaches and parks too.  It is getting to be quite a dictatorship here, but some people just still don't get it!  @pansyface - I feel safe in gloves but hand washing is the best.  @FlyDragon - gloves aren't pointless, they are just another way of protecting and feeling protected.  Sorry to have gone on so long.

PS  This virus is not going to go away until the scientists find the right treatment for it.  Not everyone has a flu' jab and not everyone gets the flu' but at least the doctors know what medication to give if you get it.

    They might not find one.

I realise that - there's always that possibility and there's always the possibility that there will be another type of Coronavirus all ready and waiting for us this winter!!!  We must look on the bright side!!
