For anyone who loves Wisley (and I know it crops up a lot on this thread) - then their tree belt is once again threatened with felling - I’ve started another thread if you feel like objecting ....

The corner of the car park at East Lambrook Manor Gardens, so pretty and not suffering in the heat at all. Its local to us so I only stopped in to look at plants in the plant centre but its well worth a visit.

The garden at the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield. Well worth a detour (small but immaculate, it's free to enter and the head gardener is happy to chat with visitors).

  • Return visit to Wisley yesterday and it was lovely, the alpine houses and the main glasshouse were open this time round. Was surprised how quiet it was away from the main entrance...as if families just walk in and settle at the nearest piece of lawn and don't move.

    Anyway, here are some photos

  • The Bishops Palace at Wells in Somerset has a superb garden and very very worth visiting.
No photos but if you are in the area you will see some fabulous gardens

@amancalledgeorge - looks a lot quieter than it was last Tuesday when we went. Even miles from the entrance there were still people everywhere...!

Beautiful photos of the alpine houses. After my visit, I decided I was in love with the tiny leaved alpines - the ones with leaves so tiny that it just looks like a mound of green until you look closely. And luckily enough I saw some for sale at a plant fair this weekend - serendipity!

Also, again no photos, but if anyone is within reach of Great Dixter, I was there Friday and it is looking beautiful at the moment. First ever visit, but glad it was at this time of year as the gardens looked like it was at their peak!
  • Lucky you @Anna33 that's a nice coincidence. I'd love some more alpines in the future, they offer so much in such compact forms.

Breezy Knees garden, yesterday. I've had it on my list of places to visit for a while.
