Hi @Pat E.   That's the new fangled meteorological change of season.  They do it over here too now but for me it's still all about the equinoxes and solstices in latitudes where they strongly affect daylight hours and temperatures.

Something light and fishy and probably leeky for us tonight @Dovefromabove.  Used to love melanzane alla parmigiana but have gone right off the taste and texture of aubergines in recent years.   Used to be a standby dish for dinner in a hurry or feeding a crowd as Belgian supermarkets sell very good frozen sliced and grilled aubergine.

    Morning all.
Off to daughters soon, bearing roses. Was hard to get them all in the car, huge root balls, 3 climbers, 2 ramblers, 3 shrubs. It is an estate car. I'll miss the roses but if I manage to sell this house at least they'll stay in the family.

  • That's a happy thought, @Busy-Lizzie.

Pre-Jorge greetings to all...  we're off to York this weekend, not really looking forward to tonight's ferry crossing...   :/

The Irish say spring begins on Feb 1st, because that's when the grass starts growing again.  Certainly seems to be true of my "lawn", but no chance to cut it until it dries out a bit and workmen stop dumping leftover render on it.  I guess they're not gardeners...  I did however win a small battle, and persuade the head builder that I'd rather have a garden which goes up and down a bit, than one made level with a nice layer of broken concrete blocks, bits of plasterboard etc.  He's taken them away.   :)

Hi Dove. Lovely autumn-like day, and the idiots on TV say it will be autumn on 1st, I still hold to the change being on 21st or 22nd.  Can’t tell them though.

We’re off to the beach again tomorrow....nothing like autumn here at all ☀️☀️☀️.  Having the best time .....we love your country @Pat E 😀😀😀
  • Hope everyone weathers the next storm without too much trauma  ;)  Safe travels @Liriodendron
Grey and damp with a gusty wind here in Norfolk.  Supper is prepped and bread rolls to eat with it are proving.
💡 If I have a late lunch I could have one of the rolls warm with some nice ham🥪

Good luck with the ferry crossing @Liriodendron.  I was looking at ferry prices yesterday   400€+ for overnight from Cherbourg to Dublin.  I don't think so.

    Photos @punkdoc ??

Banana gingerbread in the oven and banana and cardamom cake almost ready to go in the other oven.   Guess who had a bunch of very ripe bananas!
