Hoping Dennis isn’t too unkind to @punkdoc’s garden ... that area has had it really tough recently 😟

Dry here but has turned grey and bit windy.  OH has finally taken his new toy outside and is being noisy.  It's a push lawnmower so he can get to the bits the sit-on doesn't do well and is black with bright golden yellow trim and wheels and matching ear defenders.   Noisy beast for its size.  Hope it makes him happy.

    The sun disappeared this afternoon.
I did some more rose pruning and washed the veranda floor. It gets so filthy as that is where wellies are kept and the horses have churned up mud.
I'll watch Granchester, which I recorded last night, this evening.

Also did some jigsaws, but I do ones with fewer pieces than @Liriodendron, I like about 60 pieces but there aren't that many.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • @Busy-Lizzie - on the Jigsaw Planet site, if you hover over a jigsaw with the mouse, a box will appear saying "Play as".  Clicking on the box allows you to choose how many pieces you want the jigsaw to have, so you can make it as complicated (or otherwise) as you like.   :)

Apparently the army have been deployed in Calderdale to reinforce the flood defences ahead of Dennis... not sure what they'll be doing though, because apparently there's a shortage of sandbags.  We shall see, no doubt - at least it might make the residents feel someone cares.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Thoughts are with everyone struggling to cope with Storm Dennis. Stay safe folks ((hugs))

I see on the news they’ve reinforced the barriers with a plastic sheet.
Still howling here, I’ve not even been up to the business end of the garden, dreading looking.

Don't laugh, I've just had to walk (or rather run) from a large marquee back to the hotel dressed only in a long chiffon evening dress, tiara and high heeled silver sandals.  It was very, very wet and very, very windy - not a good idea in this type of weather. We've just been to a 1930's Murder Mystery dinner  (smoked salmon mousse, braised beef, green beans & a potato thingy followed by sticky toffee pudding, coffee and chocolates for those interested - very good and the service was excellent. I rather think I've eaten a bit too much to want to lie down just yet so playing on the laptop.

We had 6mm overnight. Our son in Canberra said that it’s been pouring all night up there. He’s in the unfortunate situation that when they had heavy hail a couple of weeks ago, his car got badly dented, so the insurance company has decided to write the car off. Now he has to find a replacement and of course Hubby has to help with the gap. He’s at Uni and has no money. 🤬

Liri, you beat me to it, explaining to BuzyL about the number of pieces in the jigsaws. I always select 60 or thereabouts because I’m on a small screened IPad. 😳 otherwise I wouldn’t be able to see the pieces.

Hubby’s mother would have been 100 today, so he’s on the phone talking to his sister.

It’s a bit overcast here today so not sure how to amuse myself.

    HIya @Pat E.
Droughts, forest fires, car destroying hail storms. Are there any plus points to living in Oz? Bless ya. You've all been through the mill.
Dennis is having a lie in but I'm sure he'll stir again soon .

Yes Hosta. It’s no wonder that I feel OLD. 😳. Still, things are looking up. The weather is improving and I’m starting back with my Ukeladies group tomorrow, so that’ll be good after a year away from it.  Can’t remember most of the chords though. I’ve been invited to just sing along until it all comes back to me.😂
