Having just watched 2 episodes of a Norwegian Scandi-noir (subtitles and all that) after a sauna, a large G&T, wine and flamme kuchen (it’s like pizza but thinner and nicer) - I can definitely say it’s time for bed. -7C out there at the moment. Have just put the extra duvet on!

Debs - I can’t get into opera either. Quite like Gilbert & Sullivan but that’s the Abba of the opera world. Just have to accept we’re uncultured heathens I guess.

Evening all, although I think ýou've all gone up the wooden hill to bed.
Good news about your SIL LB, will she have to have regular monthly checks.
Debs, glad you enjoyed your evening out, even if if wasn't quite you😉
I've never been to the opera and it's not my cup of tea either.......it just sounds like a din to me......like they've all forgotten the words and making a noise along with the music. Sorry if I've offendedany fans.
Topbird sounds like your enjoying your hols, hope Mr Topbird gets to ski soon.

LB, the saying more tea vicar.....it's because British vicars used to visit their parishioners and have tea with them.
Sorry to hear your son has been ill Debs,  glad he is now recovering well. Best wishes.
    Night night from me too

A very good morning to one and all. I am hoping to get into my garden for a little while today, just to get a bit of fresh air into my lungs. I was sorry to hear about the death of Kirk Douglas. I only ever watched two of his films when I was young - Spartacus and The Vikings - but really enjoyed them at that time.

Morning LB and all to follow
That is sad news, he was a good age, wasn't he 102 or 103?  Must be one of the last great movie stars of that era.
Hope you're feeling better this morning LB
A lazy day for me today, feeling really tired. OH is out with his friends later for a coffee.
Feels quite chilly this morning and looks very grey outside.
    Take care everyone

Morning - it’s badoodly freezing here. Still only -7C at 9.30am. Got a few degrees lower overnight but we were snug in bed. Heating is struggling a bit this morning so I might cook this evening’s meal in a minute (curry) - partly to get that job out of the way and partly to inject some cooker heat into the van. They must be hardy souls in the uninsulated camper vans on site.

OH managed to ski yesterday afternoon although it was in the snow so the vis wasn’t great. This morning is crystal clear, sunny, no wind so he’s gone to the other main ski area for the day. Another lazy day for me. I’d quitelike to head into town again, but the footpaths will still be lethal after such a lot of snow and the hard freeze. I’ll go tomorrow instead - the super-efficient Germans will have everything cleared up by then. I can hear the snow blowers and gritters hard at work.

Right - time for 2nd cuppa of the day. Hope you get out in the garden LB - just an hour’s work makes a big difference at this time of year.

    Speak soon.

I have just come in from a joyous 2.5 hours in the garden and despite my nose running like a tap constantly I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Everything is bursting back into life - even the wretched weeds. It was -2°C here last night and when I went to sneak a few more bits into the green bin, which was due to be emptied today, the lid had frozen shut. A big thump in the middle of the lid loosened that up. Not quite on a par with your temperature T'Bird - yours is scary cold! I think you have made the right decision about staying in today whilst the streets are cleared and defrosted.

Good morning.  Kirk Douglas 103.  I also saw Spartacus and enjoyed the film.  I remember his son, Michael, in Streets of SAN Francisco.  The fresh air should do you good LB.  I feel better for my outing.
