Apparently if you can read the top three lines on the chart, you are not deemed bad enough. She had one fall in December when she tripped over a kerb she couldn't see so now only goes out with someone with her and a stick that she plants very firmly before any uneven ground. However the one eye that got done on New Years eve has made a world of difference. As she says, if it's only money, let's get it done.
Sadly Great Aunt Sylvia died peacefully this morning . She was the last of 12 children who survived the first world war, the second world war(including giving birth during an air raid on Nottingham). She was 104 last November. She had developed a mass on her liver , but given her age, it was deemed inoperable, they gave her 3 months to live 15 months ago. Many of you may remember her as the legend with the basketball on the Channel 4 programme where the children went into the old peoples home.
I had a new type of telephone scam yesterday. It purported to come from Amazon, telling me £49.99 was going to be deducted from my bank account to subscribe to their Prime Account. If I wanted to cancel or unscribe, press 1. I ended up being given the callers name, address and a security number because I was refusing to open up my computer and access my bank account to perform the cancellation. I was firmly advised I could not carry out the cancellation myself. When I constantly refused to do as asked, he lost patience with me and cut me off. I do not usually get involved with this type of call, I get them to connect to me and then I put my phone down on the table and leave them talking to themselves, hopefully paying for the call. However, because it was completely different to any call of this type I had received before and I was off guard, I responded to it. I was so incensed by the deviousness of it I decided to contact Amazon to report it. They have a notice up saying they are having problems with scam calls and to report it to the fraud squad, full instructions given. This I did and although it took several minutes before they physically answered, I was very impressed with the way it was handled. I could have done it on line but my annoyance was such I wanted to speak to a human! I was even offered contact details of two organisations where I could ask for support in dealing with the incidence if I wished. My advanced years may have prompted that offer but I was impressed and the act of reporting the call to the fraud squad more than satisfied my fury. I kept wondering how many people might have been taken in by it and given their details when asked. Grrrhhhh!!!!
This has been going on a while. I get about one a week saying (American accent) that my prime account is being renewed. I just put the phone down. This mornings scam phone call was "Leo" (Indian accent) telling me the call was being recorded and that he was from Microsoft. I gave him something to record that probably melted the line. It involved him telling fibs, calling his parentage into question, and where he could go and urinate.
@fidgetbones , l have just seen your post about Great Aunt Sylvia. I most certainly do remember her from the programme, what a gal she was and such a twinkle in her eye. May she rest in peace.

There are many variants going around. The Amazon one, Broadband provider going to cut you off, Microsoft... Add 'I understand you have been involved in an accident which wasn't your fault', which I had recently. I said "Oh yes. I was killed in the accident". Person on the other end started with the follow up guff until what I'd said finally hit what little grey matter they have and they hung up.
I have done ... I expect it’s on the To Do List. I don’t think the forum has dedicated staff who can prioritise us nowadays ... I think tasks on here have to be fitted in ‘as and when’ by the online magazine team.

I thought we'd all been playing nicely for a good while now. Maybe that's why you haven't noticed any monitoring.
