Morning PF and Chive. PF, I meant to say yesterday that it was a really spooky occurrence with the blacksmith picture. It would have been even better if it had been the blacksmith you knew.
Well Chive, you survived your first day back. I'll bet that there were lots of very excited small people at school yesterday.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning everyone . I hope school goes well Ante and that you enjoy your school too, Chive. Hope that you will have finished your decoration packing away LB . Dentist for me this afternoon .
Fairly mild and the winds haven't arrived - yet. Once I've cleared up I'm going to start bagging up compost. Once that bin is empty OH has said he will turn the 'cooking' bin into the empty one. He's agreed to do it because a ratty rat has taken up residence in the 'cooking' bin and I'm a bit phobic about rats.
I have had these really sturdy, thick plastic, bins for over 15 years. They are on concrete slabs on 6" of hard core. There has never been a problem with even mice getting into them before. Ratty must have scaled the sides and got in from the top when the lid was blown back.
Neighbour also has a rat under his shed - that's never been known before either. Neither of us feeds the birds or leaves stuff lying around which would attract vermin.
We think recent building work at an ancient, dilapidated cottage just down the lane and the associated clearing of a large area of completely overgrown and neglected land behind may have disturbed nests and the rats have moved on to nicer surroundings. They won't be nice for much longer...
I don't 'do' rats😬 - at all - ever.

Good morning Ante, LB, Pansy, Chive, Rubee and Topbird. I woke at seven and then fell back to sleep but up and about for a while now. Ante enjoy your first day back at school and Chive enjoy your time with the children. I was coming out of the upermket and heard two children with mum singing Rudolph the red nose reindeer loudly it really made me smile.
Morning all. Getting a right battering from the wind and it's a bit scary looking at the old, very tall larch trees swaying madly.
Rats!!! Had some many years ago as did other neighbours. Pest control said it was due to children at the nearby school throwing away food from their packed lunches. These have now to be eaten inside the school and there have been no rats since.
Stay inside and safe Joyce. Don't like it when it gets really windy.
Have been exchanging emails with sister in law who lives in Canberra. They've been really struggling with the smoke from the fires over the last couple of days. Terrible air pollution. Their previous house (which they still own and rent out) is in Nowra which has been heavily featured on the news this week. Huge fire is about 3 miles from their property. Fortunately there are open spaces around it so should be safe.
They used to live at Lake Conjola which has been devastated. Their old house escaped with severe smoke damage but a close friend / ex-neighbour has lost absolutely everything. (Fortunately?) they went into town and when they tried to get home the police wouldn't allow them onto the only access road. When they did get 'home' everything had gone.
J sent me a copy of emails she's been exchanging with another friend who also lives there. They were ready to evacuate on New Years Eve but the police wouldn't let them leave because the roads were so congested and it was more dangerous to be stuck on the roads than stay. So they stayed home and had to fight the fires which completely surrounded their property themselves. Everything outside has gone but they managed to save the house (although it is quite badly damaged). They had to leave as soon as it was safe to go on the roads because there are no services (electric, phone, water etc) at all.
It is absolutely terrifying and heartbreaking for them all. J is currently looking after the pets of several people whose homes are in the danger areas. One less thing to worry about I guess.

Hello Runners. Good to see you. I'm so sorry to hear that your OH is in hospital. Hope he recovers and can get home soon. Tell him the dekkies are down and its safe to return. Bummer about the glasses and the parking ticket too. Thats you and PF with wonky specs. Two down and one to go - someone break a match. I don't have any.
It started raining here when I got back home from the village this morning. Not got the high winds yet Joyce though they have been forecast.

Hi Runners. You weren't there when I started posting. Doesn't sound like the best start to 2020. Thoughts are with you and OH - hope he is able to come home soon. x

I'm ready for school. It's cold outside, I think that shirt with short sleeves will not be sufficient. With jacket of course.
Have a nice day all of you.
Hope that you will have finished your decoration packing away LB .
