I've just had an endoscopy. I dare anyone to have one and NOT be curmudgeonly afterwards.

You can request that your put out to have that. My dad had awful time, the doc told him afterwards he should have requested anaesthetic.

An endoscopy is only ever performed with an anaesthetic down here in France, there is no choice.    :)

I had a local anaesthetic spray to the back of the mouth. It wasn't so much "painful" , but very uncomfortable

I bet all the people who assumed it had gone in the other end just had a heart attack to find out it went that far up. :#

I had one like that a few years ago in Belgium @Hostafan1 - to test my swallowing and reflux mechanisms so no anaesthetic or calming for me either.   Lovely - not.   Had to be utterly empty too so, when it was all over, I went and treated myself to the best capuccino in Namur with a little chocolate tart and proper egg, milk and vanilla crème anglaise (thin custard).

I was "nil by mouth" after dinner at 8pm, but so uncomfortable ( and gassy ) afterwards I didn't want anything.
