Hello all, Quick pop in - been an especially hectic couple of weeks with friends over and half term holidays filling up the tea rooms. My chap and I are off to Valencia on Monday, actually staying at Bordeaux airport on Sunday evening to get a decent start to the holiday without a 4 o'clock early morning rise and drive. We're away until Friday late evening so hoping to enjoy some mild sunshine and nice food with a bit of sightseeing thrown in - and not having to think about work or be in constant demand. Until then I have a buffet to do and a private dinner party on Saturday evening (paying guests not friends) and a whole pile of organising so we can get away undisturbed.
Despite constant rain (sympathy to those suffering there too) I have managed to get my bulbs in and 'put the garden to bed' for the winter.
I hope you are all ok, best wishes to Lizzie's OH and hope Moira found a bed to sleep in. xxx

Good morning all 😊 ☕️ glad you’ve got your rain @Pat E ... we’ve got plenty more we could send you ...
Hoping everyone had a restful night ... wondering whether @punkdoc is still at home or whether he had to evacuate? The news reports from up there sound horrendous. 😱
Lovely to hear from you @Dordogne Damsel ... have a marvellous time in Valencia 😎

Morning all/afties Pat. Such weather extremes when comparing your situation and doc's. Hope @punkdoc is ok. The news reports are pretty dire, to say the least. Frost here, and bright, but whether that will stay is anyone's guess. Hope you have a good time @Dordogne Damsel. Rest as much as possible
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Looks grim in Yorkshire. I hope you're OK @punkdoc and all other Forkers in the flood zones.
It was persisting down when we went to bed but then cleared to starry skies later on. Probably time to take the citrus pots down to the PT as they have a fine crop of fruits on them. I expect the fuchsias might appreciate it too. SM raid first tho and then a DIY raid in the other direction after lunch.
I have a blue geranium Brookside which is flowering its socks off now it's had some rain. It is such a cheering sight after it struggled in the drought so I shall move it later on to the roses bed where it can be exhuberant with the coppery coloured roses.
Have a great trip @Dordogne Damsel . Hope you get some sunshine and enjoy the R&R. Anyone else have plans? It's a long weekend here cos of Armistice on Monday. The garden club has taken to organising its autumn plant exchange on 11/11 but I have mixed feelings about it. It feels disrespectful somehow to be out sharing friendship, food and plants but on the other hand it's life affirming to be planting the trees and shrubs and other goodies.

Hi all. Rain finally stopped at about 2 am., I was outside doing my King Canute bit, water came as far as the porch, but the 6 inch step from there to the rest of the house, stopped it going any higher. No idea what damage has occurred outside, too early to tell. More rain forecast tomorrow and Monday, so I suppose I will have to go through it all again. Thank you all for the good wishes and the sensible advice, I actually took some of it Need to try to remove some of the large branches from the stream / river, then try to get some sleep.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
