Doesn't take much to confuse a cat.  We've had a sparrow in the log burner this afternoon so I got OH to remove Cosmos while I let it out.  He ha snow inspected behind, in front, underneath, on top....   Thorough, but confused.

Will Wonky's work tail off for the cold weather or does she have clients who understand about winter jobs?

@Obelixx she says that when she accepts a client she makes it clear that the agreement is for year round work. It probably wouldn’t stand up in court but they all seem pretty pleased with her and understand that if she doesn’t get paid in the winter she won’t be available for the summer ... and as she ‘gardens’
rather than just mowing trimming and tidying ... and has clients who garden alongside her in order to learn from her ... and because it’s more fun when there’s two of you ... it seems to be going well. đŸ€žÂ

Good.  I did that with my fortnightly help and she became a friend and we'd swap plants.  She started helping when I was laid up with the new feet in 2013 but as soon as I could I went out to play too.   She'd take home spare cuttings, seeds and divisions from my plants and brought me some crackers from her garden too.

Wonky has a similar arrangement with her clients ... cuttings and plants etc. and has been known to  go on garden visits with one client ... she accompanied us to Beth Chatto’s.

Fab news @Liriodendron. Glad the shingles has subsided too. Have a wee break and enjoy it all before winter sets in  :)
I couldn't be bothered with much in  the way of dinner - a small bowl of some [very tasty] lentil soup and some of the leftover ham with egg. Perfect for me.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Forgot to mention I actually baked two cakes today!  A pear cake and an apple cake (using our own apple and pears as we're inundated) in honour of family visiting this weekend. Both turned out reasonably well, although I fear they might go a mite soggy overnight. Any ideas on how I can use up 1/2 a bag of ground almonds I've got left over, apart from more cakes? Says it's got be used within a month.

Keep them in a cool dark place and they'll be fine for longer than a month.

Use them in a crumble with oats to replace the usual flour and add some slivered almonds for extra crunch.  Pears go very well wth an almondy crumble.

    Thanks again folks!
Not sure about being brave... a mixture of (mostly) excitement with a bit of apprehension thrown in, I think.   :)
Even the cat finds unpacking tiring...
