Had lots of cuddles with 7 month grandson, but I forgot my camera. He's all round and smiley, except at bedtime when he didn't want to sleep. First Mummy went up to settle him, then Daddy, no good, howls, so Granny went up and had a good cuddle and a chat then silence!
It's a nice day so the drive back was OK but yesterday it was awful, howling gale, pouring rain. I felt a bit nervous on the motorway and it took 1hr 40mins instead of 1hr 15mins to get there. The sun is out so I feel I should rush out and do some gardening but I don't feel like it and it will start getting cold soon anyway. Just that it's rained so much recently, southern France has had really bad flooding, even deaths, that the sight of the sun is a relief.
Dove seemed horrified when I said my night time heating is set to 16°. That means it doesn't come on at night at the moment, the plumber set it as it has to be set to something. The Norfolk cottage can turn itself off automatically at the time you set it but not here, a temperature has to be entered. Here when it's very cold it does come on at night, it's an old stone house and it feels much colder than the Norfolk cottage. Never have heating at night there.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
How lovely @Busy-Lizzie ... they’re adorable at that age 😍. Granny obviously has the knack 😉
re heating ... Russian ex daughter in law thought we were all mad for not having the heating on at night ... she’d have it on full and have the windows open for fresh air ... back in Russia the heating is part of the rent. She learned ... eventually, when she set up home on her own 😉

Hi everyone just caught up. Spent the afternoon in greenhouse putting winter onions, broad bean seed & winter salad into modules. I think if I put any of them in the ground at the moment they would float away! We never have heating on at night too noisy for me wakes me up! RE laptops we recently got a chrome book super fast after windows 7.
Ach- you can always get a boat @Allotment Boy Our boiler is new - and very un- noisy. Daughter hates it when it goes off though, and the pipes make a noise while it cools down. 'all round and smiley' - lovely description @Busy-Lizzie. Pity they become teenagers, isn't it I've made lentil soup, so not a complete waste of a day. I may just have that for dinner.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hello all from County Clare! We moved across the water on Wednesday, with the van following yesterday. The house extension hasn't yet happened so we're entirely surrounded by boxes... kitchen is a bit straighter but we're too tired to sort anything else on a hurry! The shingles had subsided by the time we left, but that and the 5 hospital visits in the last 6 weeks was somewhat wearing. House and garden make us happy though, and so does the warmth of the welcome from the locals. Cat is confused but fine. Thanks for all your kind thoughts!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Lovely to hear from you @Liriodendron 😊. Glad all is going well ... confused cats can be entertaining Im sure 😆 Wonky is up to her eyes in work and struggling with a new phone, but sends hugs.
