Spent yesterday helping at our local Flower Show which seems to have been very succesfull - lovely cake! Today I did a stint at the school garden I look after which was very much needed - took over an hour just to hack a way round the paths. Verbena bon. doesn't half grow when you don't want it to.Ā Feel quite tired now.
Morning - anyone who's around. Been awake for hoursĀ P**ing down outside. The lovely weekend has gone - normal service resumedĀ
I've taken lots of cuttings from my V.bon @Lizzie27, as they don't always seed freely here. I have a nice little collection to spread into other areas now. Glad you enjoyed your cake - it's a necessary requirement when busy.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Cake season starts again today.Ā First session at patch club - AGM - with me as president so I've made a Borrowdale Teabread for the drinks that will close the meeting.Ā It's tried and tested but I get 30+ guinea pigs to try out new recipes for the rest of the season.Ā Cakes for 2 are just too many calories.
Thin clouds today so far and a watery sun but no rain.Ā Might get 4mm this evening.Ā Ā
I hope my VB sets seed @Fairygirl as I didn't think to take cuttings and I just had the one from a plant swap.
Good morning allĀ āļøĀ we have a bright morning, although ātheyā say there may be rain later ... probably when the line is full of washing (pāraps that should be on the Curmudgeonly thread š) @WonkyWomble is going to pot up some of her self-seeded Verb. bons š .... they self seeding in this garden seems a bit erratic ... maybe because most of it is in shade for half the day for most of the summer?Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've only ever bought one packet of V.Bon seeds, and one year they seeded out into the bit beyond the garden where the car is! No seedlings since then - I find cuttings strike really well. I've got several bits on the go just now, all taken from the existing plants quite recently. Is that a sultana/raisin type teabread @Obelixx? I love them, but I would be eating it by myself. A bad idea. I'd need several big hills in a row to work that offĀ Hope your rain stays away @Dovefromabove. I'd have thought you'd get a long enough season for V.bon to seed, despite a bit of shade?

I find a few @Fairygirl but not a lot ... but thereās not a lot (or any) bare earth in this garden by midsummer (some folk might think it looks āa messā ... see another thread š) so maybe thereās no room for the seeds to fall?

Hope all are ok. Off again this week, but I need to spend a few days ārevisingā for a course and exam that is coming up. I will pick the rainy days to do that (so, today is one).Ā
