Have you tried essential oil of lavender drops on their pillows @wild edges?   Possum didn't sleep thru the night till she was well over a year old so I tried it on her and it helped.   Mind you, the first time she did sleep thru and I realised I'd slept till 8am I ran down the hall thinking she was a cot death!  Found her sat up and burbling away in her cot.   Panic over.   These days of course she can sleep for England and Belgium.

When they're teenagers, you won't be able to get them out of bed.

I've been neglecting a pot of creepy black grass. But my husband, who for some unknown reason likes it, has been sneaking behind my back and watering it. It has produced flowers - not a grass then, thinks I. Apparently it's related to asparagus. I still don't like it😐

Do you mean black lily turf @B3?  Ophiopogon planescarpus nigrescens?   It can look very fetching at the edge of a gravel bed with pale leaved and/or flowered plants for contrast.  Spreads well when happy.

I like it when it's happy and healthy but it does look minging when too dry or hungry.  Try being kind and see if it grows on you.

I grow it in a pot with campanula.

I think what really put me off it was our old neighbour used to have it in a big black cauldron. I think she gave me a bit of it that I was too polite to refuse. I can see that it might look good with rich jewel colours -in someone else's garden.

I've seen it used well in blocks, next to but not mingled with, other plants.   One friend in Belgium created a Japanese style garden with one of those circular beds split into two yin yang teardrop shapes.   The lily turf was very good for the yin but I can't remember what she used for the yang.  Less successful anyway.

I would separate it from your campanula and try it with contrasting heucheras such as Marmalade or maybe some Japanese blood grass or use it for underplanting a brightly stemmed cornus alba sibirica.

He sleeps much better when he isn't feeling poorly but when he's ill he feels the need to get everyone involved. Sadly if his mum goes to him when he wakes up he's inconsolable but if I go he calms down right away and I just have to sit with him until he drops off again. I'm sure she does it on purpose though. I'm not angry at her, I just wish I'd thought of it first. :#
