Good morning. Just had an interesting chat with one of the ex committee asking for her 5€ back. I decided to play and said that we had a unanimous decision by a majority of members so it was a correct decision. No, she says, it's not the same club. Oh yes it is and she's a member till August 31st...... Anyway, after a bit more amusing myself I said I'd happily return her 5€. Naughty, a bit like Minstrel playing with a dead mouse before she eats it.
No idea what a grasshopper eats but surely to be found on google. No idea whow to herd one either. As for frogs, the ones that stay by the pond all plop into the water when I appear and the little ones hiding in my pots just hop and then freeze when I come by to water. None in the house so far.
Saw two hoopoes pecking for ants in our grass the other day. Thought they'd gone home too as we'd neither seen nor heard them for a couple of weeks but, like the swifts, they're still here discreetly fattening up for the long flight south.
Definitely devious whilst claiming to be honest. In a survey a few years ago the people voted least liekable and trustworthy were journalists and politicians. He is both - entertaining anics when he was mayor but no fun at all now.

Last night I was minding my own business watching the Bake Off - why all that OTT decoration? It's the cake that's important and how many home cooks will go that far on a weekly basis?
Anyway, something large, black and noisy flew in thru teh window and dive bombed the standard lamp in teh corner so hard it landed on its back on the floor behind the log burner. Had to rescue by getting it to grip the fire brush then carry it to the outside windowsill where it lay dazed before finally flying off. About 3cms long and a very shiny, cyclindrical shape. Fatter than a stag beetle and no "horns". Any ideas?

Rained this morning, not heavy, but it's been quite warm.
I hope Talla feels better soon.
OH took the car to the garage, not far, neighbour drove him back. Window needs a new part to make it shut, should come tomorrow.
Friends and NDNs came to lunch, went very well. Both couples are called Mike and Sue. We had salmon pate, tomato, basil and mozzarella salad, then chicken in different marinades with roast spuds and roast veg, then apple and blackberry pie.
Don't know about the beetle, @Obelixx , lots of weird and wonderful beetles in France.
Was going to give the window another coat of paint but it's become rather cloudy, don't want rain on it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
