A couple of years ago United Utilities were set to impose a ban in our area. I pointed out to them how unfair that would be in a village whose water comes not from a surface reservoir but from a bore-hole just up the road. I also gave them grief about an unresolved massive leak in a nearby town that had wasted far more water in two weeks than the whole of our village could use through hosepipes in a year! Of course UU sent back the predictable standard reply about how they regularly monitor the levels of a reservoir somewhere in Cumbria (!) and how they regularly move water around the region etc. etc.
So I then took my complaint to The Consumer Council For Water. I also asked them to address the lack of any consultation with customers or Parish Councils and the fact that an exception was already in place for golf courses, farms & certain other businesses so why not also those customers on a bore-hole supply? Yet again I received a 'standard' response that showed how little say consumers have in these matters and how unregulated the water companies really are
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
