I've had a reply from Yorkshire Water (1 week - not too bad I suppose). I'm allowed to use my drip irrigation system during the hose pipe ban!
They also confirmed that I can use a length of hose to syphon water from the bath, good job because yesterday we set up an arrangement similar to @Fire's with a hose hanging on a hook outside the bathroom window, going into the back water butt to save water for the next day's watering of things that aren't on the drip system. It needs some finangling - the cheap hand-pump that I got to get the syphon started doesn't fit well into the hose.

Hubby cleaned our "new" white car today....lots of bird poo. He said he used 8 watering cans of water just to rinse off,and would have used far less with the hose!

Surely remove it with kitchen water and spray then wash it after?
We live near the sea ...lots of seagulls and pigeons. It hasn't been washed since we bought it in July, normally it's a weekly thing. It's big,a Kia Sportage sparkly white. We have dogs we take to woods and forests Rodders,no he carefully washed it, proper shampoo, leathers, removed the bird poo.... lots of blackberry bushes around here, then rinsed . Wheels were muddy from the woods. We have had rain, our 6 water butts are full. Folk on here know we don't waste water. Even without a hosepipe ban,we save it every summer. Shower twice a week, with the plug in,scoop most out with a jug even getting the last drop out with a sponge, soaking it in the bath, squeezing it into a bucket. We let it mellow if it's yellow, and use the shower water to flush when necessary. So, don't begrudge us,not allowing the birds to ruin the car!
according to the parish newsletter , we've had 42mm up to Aug 24th. Average for August is 94.15mm. " The previous 13 years have all been above the monthly average "
My hubby .... everything he does is done properly, the cars are kept in mint condition as is the property, because they are our most expensive purchases. They keep their value. His 8 year old car we part exchanged looked brand new. I don't know why it took 8 cans to rinse,I was busy making tomato soup. I know I used to get told off for the state of my car. It wasn't full of food containers, drink cans or anything like that, usually receipts for shopping or parking. My first husband had his own cleaning company and car valeting.....you wouldn't have met him then! Number 2 hubby did say the dealership had put that .......black**** on the Matt wheel trims and bumper, which came off on his shorts when he walked past, perhaps it was difficult to remove. Hubby number one always used this, and some shiny black tyre stuff.

How did he do it, just put watering can water over the poo till it moved?
